Basically, the DA tried to reclassify the abetting of a murder by saying that some dude miles away had a gun on him, therefore he was carrying when he aided the murder, making statute of limitation void. Convoluted I know. Lagoa dissented from majority opinion that it was illegal to overreach simply to end run around the statute of limitations around the crime. Basically, she stood by the law even though it meant letting a scumbag out. The other judges, in my opinion, were willing the bend the law.
Here is one where the third district makes a ruling about when stand your ground ends. To me, this is uncontroversial. Read for yourself, o my a couple pages explaining the situation. TLDR, don’t fire warning shots, ever. Especially after you know the stranger is actually a power grid guy and not a threat.

The district court unanimously (Lagoa included), said it tainted the trail, declared a retrial.
