I upvoted both of you. The debates can't happen, really, because Joe will self-destruct or have a heart attack from all the uppers he'll be on. But the debates must happen or else. They'll really have to think long and hard about this, cause maybe it is time to come clean and to replace Hiden with Harris.
They will make a decision at the last possible minute. Who knows, maybe Harries will show up and not Hiden and she can explain what happened.
Emergency? That sounds like their normal modus operandi --- feign outraged indignation at every utterance (or non-utterance), at every action (or non-action).
It will happen, Joe knows he will lose if it doesn't - average voter will think he wimped out. It's a lose-lose situation but worse if he bails.
