It was right after a July 4th party. On the canal, usually a very safe place in downtown Indy. And it’s not a “black city”, it’s a Hoosier city. The downtown has been revitalized for decades and the canal has parks and museums and upscale apartments and restaurants.

This wasn’t the ghetto. It’s a really nice area.
