You think he doesn't have enough money to hire a lawyer that could draft and agreement that would make it impossible for Spotify to censor him? It wasn't a mistake. He took a big payout to go away and stop being a thorn in the establishment's side. And he did it before the Spotify deal as well.
Think back to when he had Jack Dorsey on his show. Jack came on without his lawyer when it was just him and Joe, almost as if he knew that Joe was going to let him spout his bullshit uncritically. Then when there was backlash and he brought a high school dropout skateboarder on to challenge Dorsey, suddenly he needed a high powered lawyer to appear with him.
You think NYT journalists and Bernie Sanders would go on his podcast if it wasn't controlled? Do they make appearances on any other independent media? No, no they do not. They never would, because it could only harm them.
