I think a lot of it is that people are just sick of the propaganda. Reddit wasn't always like this, it really kicked up the propaganda back before the 2016 election. At this point a lot of people who just aren't that in to politics are starting to get fed up with their /r/all page being nothing but blatant propaganda and orangemanbad shit.
Reddit sends out these "look what's trending" newsletters every day, and half of the posts are anti-trump nonsense on it. Considering most redditors are 20 years old and younger, that much politics gets tiring. When I was 20 and under I didn't really give a fuck about politics and I'd certainly be frustrated my memes are getting overshadowed by deranged idiots and europeans acting superior. Especially when you begin to realize just how many of the /r/politics posts that hit the front page end up being proven false within 24 hours. There's gotta be people who just roll their eyes at this point going "yea, this time Trump is finished. SURRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEE" even if they're a democrat
Here's a quick tip for how to search for photoshopped or stolen images. Place your mouse on the image and 'right-click'. There's a menu that comes up and you can select "Search Google for image" It will bring up a bunch of sites that the image is on, as well as the photoshopped / alternates. The Reddit rugrats are peeing their pants over nothing.....again.
