i'm guessing the Latino contingent likes the promises of free healthcare and other social support, so they mostly vote Democrat
but this is a very important point - when the pollsters say Catholic a huge amount of that is lapsed Catholics who never go to church but still call themselves Catholics. when you take those out, the believers do support Trump strongly.
I think it's lunacey that they vote democratic. My wife's cousin always shouts how catholic she is. But fully believes in a woman's choice for abortion, transgenderism, socialism. When she should be saying it's God's choice, not a woman's. But she also is a heavy drinker and self proclaimed crazy woman.
Religion has become a shiny medal for people to flaunt and virtue signal with. While not perfect, a real adherent would probably make other choices and not always bring up their faith so irreverently.
Local priest has stated definitively that you cannot be a Catholic and vote Democrat given their stance on abortion. If our current pope wasn’t the anti-pope, Joe Biden would have been excommunicated.
The "Catholics" that do so are either grossly uninformed voters who still think the Democrat party platform is the same one their parents/grandparents voted for, or they are people who may have been baptized and raised Catholic but abandoned/apostatized/don't practice their faith, but STILL call themselves Catholic. Among faithful, actual Catholics, I'd say that most of the informed and based ones are pro-Trump. Informed being a key component.

Unfortunately there are a lot of non practicing Catholics who live secular lives but will still identify as Catholic. Although their are some pro-choice voting practicing Catholics, the majority of us vote pro-life. I still believe the Catholic vote will go strong for Trump this time.

It is less efficient to attack smaller denominations because they have far less hard power and very little in the way of a public image beyond a general idea.
