Same in Georgia. Many states have laws that you need side mirrors, but less states have laws that you need a rear window. Most trucks and vans are exempted, because of many working type vehicles that can't have a rear window.
In Texas you are allowed to block the rear window completely (paint it black if you want, etc) provided you have a side view mirror on each door.
