We need to get more serious about addressing mental health problems in our country. I mean it, this is bad.

Makes you wonder about all the fake Chinese bot accounts on twitter constantly swarming the minds of real people with leftist propaganda who are stupidly unaware that twitter is not a real reflection on their society.

That's not fair she looks Japanese and conformity is a cultural thing in Japan, that's how they can cram a zillion people into trains everyday without killing each other... well that and lots of sake

Wow!! I would've loved to have been in that experiment!

It reminded me of the Easter Sunday about 10 years ago, when our lame music director thought it would be a good idea to turn on a smoke machine, and have a guy dressed up like Jesus walk out from behind a stone in a cloud of smoke, like some cheap Vegas magic show. The entire congregation stood up and clapped and cheered... except for me. I stayed in my seat with a pissed off look on my face. I was glad I didn't invite anyone I knew that morning. I would have been so embarrassed.

I did enjoy reading the comments comparing that experiment to what's going on now with mask requirements. Good video!!

Manufactured outrage. They only pretend to care about things temporarily if they think it might hurt their political opponent. For example, None of them even pretended to give a shit when people were being tortured and beheaded and burned alive on a daily basis under the Obama regime. They never pretended to care about kids in Obama cages until Trump was president. They never pretended to care about muh Kurds until Trump started pulling our troops out of Syria. He’ll they didn’t even know what a Kurd was. Etc. etc.

bill_in_texas 35 points ago +35 / -0

I don't understand what lives Trump has killed. He's trying to fix the SCOTUS to be less friendly to abortion, he is pulling troops out of Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq, trying to end those wars, and hasn't started any new wars.

Trump banned travel from China and Europe to save lives from the Wu flu early. Who the fuck is Trump responsible for killing?

I've said this too many times. It hurts people's feelings to be told they may have a mental disorder. So instead of trying to remedy it, we normalize it to make them feel included with mentally healthy people.

38
The_Bloofy_Bullshark 38 points ago +39 / -1

They celebrate it. Not just normalize it - They idolize it. For shits and giggles install Tinder and see how many women have “mentally ill” listed in their profile. It’s like a badge of honor, I don’t get it.

19
Gatsby2x4 19 points ago +19 / -0

Yes its so trendy and makes you special to have a list of pseudo 'issues'. Which is basically an excuse to not cope with anything.

6
Aquamine-Amarine 6 points ago +6 / -0

It makes me sick how they act like it's cool to have mental health issues. I suffer from terrible depression and anxiety, I fucking hate it. I don't prance around bragging about it. No normal person wants to suffer from these things.

so true.

9
GrabLifeByThePussy 9 points ago +9 / -0

And that's the trans movement in a nutshell.

Even some of my Trump supporting friends get one.about refusing to call transwomen women, etc. I explain ad nauseum these people are mentally ill and you're more concerned about not being called mean than you are about advocating for these people getting the mental care they need.

The it's ma'am! Shit is hilarious but also, it's sad because these.people really are convinced their body is wrong when in reality it's their mind that needs to be set right. They don't need castration and hormone replacement therapy. They need psychiatric care, therapists, and time to heal in an environment of people committed to their actual well being.

My cousins is a leftist nut and his wife even more so. She's a social worker or some crap that apparently specialiZes in trans and trans relationships. Guarantee you she's doing more harm than good because the advice she's giving isn't "get medical care" it's probably more along the lines of "muh you were born this way, everyone's a bigot, the world needs to change, not you, dur"

I remember asking you before about people with TDS and you letting me know it is very real.

What can be done to help these people? It's appalling how delusional they are.

Coddling of the American Mind had a pretty good passage on this. Currently we have effective talk therapy techniques like CBT. In these therapies, either with a psychologist or by yourself, you basically question the thoughts that cause you distress. "No, it's not true that I'm a worthless failure and nobody wants to talk to me." "No it's not true that if I don't obsessively over-analyze every email I send out, I'll accidentally make a terrible message and get fired." "No it's not true that Trump supporters want to murder every brown person."

It's been shown by studies to be highly effective in treating everything from anxiety to depression, and many psychologists will try it before even thinking about medication. The guy who invented it was inspired after reading a lot of works by ancient stoics. This might seem like a joke to some people here, but I was raised in an environment with teachers and peers who had serious victim mentalities. Personally, these techniques have helped prevent me from becoming a Bernie bro and take more responsibility in my life.

But on the other hand, we have many in academia and popular culture that basically promote the opposite of these techniques. "Yes, society is inherently biased against you and there's nothing you can do about it." "Yes everybody with a MAGA hat wants you dead." Instead of teaching people how to deal with, for example, negative thoughts upon trying to start a weight loss program, there's lots of people that will just tell them it's okay to be 400lbs overweight.

That's interesting and sounds like something that could really work. They have to "retrain" their minds to think a certain way.

6
mygenericalias 6 points ago +6 / -0

That book should be read by every single 15 year old (and person, in general) in the nation

6
Gyrfalcon 6 points ago +6 / -0

and take more responsibility in my life.

The most important responsibility is to understand that you are responsible for your own happiness. No one else is supposed to make you happy. That recognition helps you to make better decisions for you.

6
mygenericalias 6 points ago +6 / -0

Jordan Peterson is a hero for teaching this to so many people over the last few years

4
stratocaster_patriot 4 points ago +4 / -0

And I would add something my grandmother taught me; You are responsible for being insulted. People can say and do whatever they like but if you become insulted by it, that is on you. I say you are also responsible for your own "OMG I'm literally shaking because Trump" horseshit. You are responsible for you own sorrow and misery.

Great post and very true. Although when I tried CBT once the bitch immediately wanted me on drugs and insisted it was necessary. So I quit.

But the technique is solid. In fact it's what taught me how ridiculous all those redditors are who think they read your mind and know exactly what you are thinking and how you are. Classic cognitive distortion. I may not have been incredibly successful with CBT but it did teach me a lot about cognitive distortion and how to recognize it in myself and others. I see it around me everywhere these days.

It's really sickening what the media does to these people. They are spreading mental illness.

Paul_Revere 14 points ago +15 / -1

We need to get more serious about addressing mental health problems in our country. I mean it, this is bad.

You're right. All of us routinely call TDS maniacs "crazy," but it's gotten to the point of actual emotional illness. There really is a serious mental health problem here, and it's being encouraged by media and the educational establishment.

When American girls (and probably more than a few of what passes for males these days) are breaking out in tears because they've seen pickups flying American flags, it's time to face up to the fact that this goes beyond levity. It's genuine mental illness. And it's spreading.
