That's the average time it takes for pro athletes to lose all the money and property they had when they played. Even the really big names go broke pretty quick. If they don't transition into acting or broadcasting, and most can't, they get skinned by their "FRIENDS" and agents.
The worst dig I ever heard was at the Super Bowl in Miami a long time ago. A player was arguing with a fan and the fan said: "You know what? this is probably your last year in the league, so the next time I see you, you'll parking my car."
I had occasion to stop a tall black dude on a stolen scooter in Inglewood, CA, total crack head, then I noticed he was wearing what looked like a legit Super Bowl ring. Can’t remember all the dets, I think it was Raiders (this happened around 1990). I offered him $1000 for it, he said no way, I know I’m a crackhead but I’ll never sell it. (I didn’t have any cash on me anyways...)
