I perceived the sketch AN prison tats and hood clothing on a new neighbor's white adult son who appeared on my doorstep midafternoon as a giant red flag warning- no matter his other stated task.
I perceived the nicely dressed no sketch tats other neighbor's black friend knocking on my door at dawn with a bottle of champagne in one hand after the party I had left alone at Midnight was finally wrapping up as.... both mildly amusing and flattering. And absolutely not a threat factor.
The first I had to monitor my naturally friendly dynamics like a hawk for a couple years as his failure to recognize non interest was a problem and he had a violent streak.
The second took it extraordinarily well when I even turned down being taken out to breakfast to get to know him better, and was casual friendly every time we crossed paths for years after that surprise knock.
But this was in a virtual suburban utopia compared to edge of the hood where I raised my girls- there NOBODY was getting my door answered if I didn't already know them well lol.
