Next, consider that this guy was holding a knife, was within dangerous killing range, showed body language of rushing the cops, and explicitly said he was going to kill one of the cops.
Next, imagine standing on the doorstep of the widow of the cop if the knifeman had killed him, and imagine explaining to her how you valued the perp's life over her husband's life, and recommended that he hold his fire and not shoot despite the imminent deadly threat against his life.
The cop was entitled to shoot. It's sad, perhaps it could have been avoided, but that would also entail assumptions and the cop being lucky despite a very real threat against his life.
Guns are not magic against knives. We need to stop second guessing police when they are clearly in the right.
There are some pedes on this thread who have good intentions and warm hearts, however are misguided. No offense, but educate yourselves, people.
