Why can't people just say, I'm not comfortable around people that's not familiar? or people that I don't have proven positive experiences.

You see mermaids! why the hell would sailor be comfortable with half fish women? well they've got titties! sailors are familiar and have positive experiences with those! It matter not if the portions are flipped nor the mermaids are Black Yellow Red or White...Familiar & positive experiences!

It's always the soy boy priests that haven't had a familiar & positive experience with tits that saves the sailors' lives.

Humans are tribal.

Put a huge group of strangers together (think Fed jury duty) and by the end of day one, you'll find yourself hanging out with people like you. Maybe not exactly like you - but close enough.

Source: Spent 5 days hanging out on jury duty with about 300 people. End of day one, I was in a group of professional white women (mostly conservative)

they have a program that helps select people for a guilty or innocent verdict. Even Jordan P points out managers tend to be conservatives. Put those 2 together and it means that jury is probably made with an intended verdict in mind.

Finally, don't let the base joke make you miss the elegant thought of familiarity and positive experiences. It applies to jury duty, and i suggest it applies to skin colors.

The root of racism is in the irrational thought of racial superiority, take the Japanese in WWII for example. Christian are taught to be humble perhaps for this precise reason.

Yet we are taught today that racism is from the thought of racial inferiority, and now we have racist BLM running around. Back when the world was more tribal, like you said, people didn't try to discriminate the inferiority of other tribes, only that their own was the best.

Now, like ethic restaurants, familiarity and positive experiences will dictate your comfort and frequencies of interaction yes or no? much like skin color, dialect, and how someone dresses.
