He is well versed in many things, but I don't recall him having much to say about SCOTUS. Barrett got all the fab reviews when she went to the 7th circuit. Neocon doesn't bother me re: SCOTUS because it's more of a foreign policy thing. I don't think she's going to be a Roberts. He is more of a problem because he's compromised.

Edit: this is National Review, but Ed Whelan is great on SCOTUS. https://www.nationalreview.com/bench-memos/judge-barrett-on-textualism-and-originalism/

and on 2A: https://www.nationalreview.com/bench-memos/judge-barrett-on-the-second-amendment/

If you are willing.. Please watch the last two livestreams from viva frei and barnes. He talks about her rulings on 2A. But the big issue is her views on civil liberties and corporations. From my understanding, she's always going to rule against you when you sue a corporation. She also ruled in favor of the lockdowns... so there is that.

She didn't really rule "in favor" of the lockdowns. It was the IL case, whether or not Pritzker could limit the number that could attend political gatherings if he had already exempted religious gatherings. The ruling said that religious gatherings fell under 1A but that governors did have the power to limit political gatherings. Since Pritzker was savvy enough not to grant an official exemption to BLM there wasn't enough evidence to show that he was picking and choosing. The panel was unanimous on the 7th circuit to deny the injunction, including another Trump appointee.

Every case is decided on the merits and this one was on the merits of a particular GOP attempt at an injunction which was narrowly argued. It wasn't a broad "lockdowns: yay or nay?" kind of thing.

But I will look into Barnes. Thanks.

It seems you are more well informed on this than I am. However, I do trust Barnes so I will defer to him. Let me know if you watch them and what conclusion you come to. It seems everyone agrees the young woman is the best and ACB and Lagoa are more unknowns. But the recent stream with 4 lawyers and they all seemed to think she was a bit biased. Unfortunately I'm an engineer not a lawyer.

No worries, I'm a librarian. :) I honestly don't know and can only just read what others have said. Trump said tonight that his nominee could serve 50 years. ACB is 48 and I don't know how old Lagoa is but Rushing is 38. :)
