They were very identical in policy. Ron paul was much more into the fiscal responsibility aspect while Trump was more about landing greater trade deals/making other nations pay up. But outside of that- putting american interests first, ending nonstop wars, strong border protection, fixing the horrendous policy of shipping our jobs overseas.
Except ron paul was soft-spoken, meek, he was too well-mannered. And he got laughed off the stage for it. But 8 years later someone with the same fundamental ideals came up. Trump already had name recognition, a plentiful war chest, and the will to smash the shit out of the republicans first, and then the democrats even worse. His arrogance, his brazen unapologetic nature, which the liberals hate him for, is why we won where Dr. Paul failed.
Agreed. I read Ron Paul’s books and the economics make so much sense it’s irrefutable. DJT is no Ron Paul, but he’s done more than anyone could ask for. Get well Dr. Paul and 4 more for 35.
I think the first real internet candidate was Howard Dean. He was some nobody Democrat in 2004 election and surged to the top through online donations and ended up eclipsing John Kerry early on. Then the media all turned their guns on him and made him look like a deranged lunatic, especially after his "BYAHHH!" incident. Same thing happened to Ron Paul in 08 and 12, and what happened to Bernie in '16. And of course the same thing happened to Trump, but he was able to just power through it
I was a GA state delegate for Paul in 2012 and the GOP actively fucked with his entire campaign. There were more Paul supporters than Romney at the convention yet the RINOs did everything they could to not only silence the man, but his ideas, they adopted none of what he brought to the table even though he hand delivered an enthusiastic wave of young voters to the Republican party.
I hated the GOP for what they did to him and still refuse to call myself Republican to this day (though the Trump wing is almost in full control of the GOP now, so that could change)
I did a congressional-district level convention for Paul in 2008. We got organized, and got out the vote, and decided to make sure all our delegates were Ron Paul people. You would have thought we were engaging in animal sacrifice or something from the shock and outrage we generated. And they probably would have screwed us even at that level if we didn't have a few guys who knew when to stand up and call bullshit.
That convention was some bullshit! I was a door knocking volunteer for his campaign in 2012 and ran as a committee person as part of the electoral college.
I also got to see him speak twice in person. He red pilled me around 2010 when I went...why did I vote for Obama? Why is he bombing shit and where is the change I can believe in?????
And I saw Romney as the weird piece of shit he is so I turned to the libertarian party.
I will never forget how they finally let him talk at one of the republican presidential debates and he said something along the lines of "they call me anti-American because I want to cut defense spending, then they install air conditioners at the embassy in Italy and call it part of defense!" and the debate exploded in applause.
Then the party realized it's better if they don't let him talk.
yep. remember when Ron Paul was Reddits darling politician? Those were better days for the site. Those were the times where you could post 13/52 and have a discussion about it instead of getting harassed and banned.
I duckduckgo'd 13/52 and man...lol those redditards were making all kinds of excuses for it. One thread was asking how to refute that. They're asking how to refute FACTS, hah!
Yep, first person I ever voted for in 2008. I grew up hating the republican party and Bush, then I didnt like Obama on the campaign trail and started hating democrats too. Then I started learning about Ron Paul and him calling out both parties and it sent me down the rabbit hole. I think the MAGA movement wouldnt exist if Ron Paul didnt set the ground work for it through the internet.
Perot proved once and for all that you can't have a third-party candidate in America's corrupt two-party duopoly.
That why Ron Paul ran as a Republican candidate despite being Libertarian. It's why Bernie Sanders ran as a Democratic candidate despite being Independent (Socialist). And it's why Trump did the same thing as Ron and ran as Republican despite being rich enough to self-fund a campaign as Perot did.
Even when you game the system by running as a candidate, the corrupt duopoly will still try to destroy you but at least you have a shot at getting on the national debate stage. If you manage to give a good performance and poll well then it becomes increasingly obvious when they sabotage you.
Following Ron Paul allowed me to see Project Mockingbird in action, years before I'd find out its name. A true patriot, one who I would have loved to have seen in the President's cabinet had he not retired from politics.
Trump may have been able to do it without him, but Ron Paul proved there were freedom loving and free thinking Americans still out there
Ron Paul red pilled the shit out of me in 2008. No other modern personality has been as influential when it comes to my beliefs on the role of government and personal responsibility.
He red pilled me when he talked about his reason for impeaching Bill Clinton which was his illegal bombing of countries without congressional approval. Not only were they sanctioned with the people starving but he dropped uranium bombs causing illness which led to 9/11
That piece of shit cuckfest Reddit owes the entirety of their existence and popularity to Ron Paul. For years Reddit was the official platform of the Ron Paul Revolution. It's what caused the site to grow exponentially. You thought it was nuts seeing Trump take over the Front Page every single day, or seeing Bernie do the same thing after T_D got censored? It was Ron Paul that did it first.
And now, just a few short years and millions of dollars in Chinese bribes later, there isn't even a single post on the front page mentioning the news of what happened, let along wishing him well.
I remember being on Reddit for that whole time during 2012 and getting into politics. I thought Ron Paul was the best. Then Reddit went full retard after that election. I'm proud to have written in Ron Paul's name in 2012. I live in CA, so my vote never mattered anyway.
Ron Paul was the first candidate to be popular on the Internet but censored by the mainstream media. In a sense, he set a path for Trump.
However, Trump already had enough popularity and he was a headline grabber, which made it harder to suppress his candidacy.

Great write up and you hit the nail on the head.
Ron paul is who I needed. Trump is who I didn't know I really needed until now!
Both great men and pro america and freedom
Agreed. I read Ron Paul’s books and the economics make so much sense it’s irrefutable. DJT is no Ron Paul, but he’s done more than anyone could ask for. Get well Dr. Paul and 4 more for 35.
Money Bombs! Those were the days... I remember refreshing the page in Firefox on my Dell laptop and getting all giddy...
God bless Ron Paul!

I wasn’t red-pilled by him until 2014 when I really looked into it and saw how they fucked him at the convention

Same here but in Idaho. That was some hard red pills to take going through all that shit

It was nonstop censorship and disinformation from the msm during his campaigns (sound familiar).

Oh man, those were the days... you’ve given me flashbacks
I duckduckgo'd 13/52 and man...lol those redditards were making all kinds of excuses for it. One thread was asking how to refute that. They're asking how to refute FACTS, hah!

It wouldn't. Many people forget how much of a rockstar Ron Paul was in 2008-2012. I noticed YouTube has deleted a lot of his old speeches too smh
Pfft. I was Red pilled by Ross Perot.
I was too young, but he was a prophet, ignored by the masses and written off as crazy.
Yep, Perot, Buchannen and Paul were all trail blazers for Trump https://youtu.be/W3LvZAZ-HV4

Grandpa Redpill!
Literally
The way the media treated his run for presidency. That's when I knew the corruption runs deep.
Ross Perot red pilled me but this man is a national treasure.
AUDIT THE FED!
I was red pilled by Ron paul around 2010. Amazing man! I've been lucky to see him speak live twice!
I want to upvote but I was red pilled by Rush and William F. Buckley 2 decades ago. Awe what the hell. I'll upvote it anyway!
Actually was. First politician I heard where I was like wow, this makes sense. Sometime in high school.
RP is da fucking man!
Still have my RP for pres paraphernalia.
GOP did fuck him over. Almost drove me to never vote for any more of them on the national level.
I remember being on Reddit for that whole time during 2012 and getting into politics. I thought Ron Paul was the best. Then Reddit went full retard after that election. I'm proud to have written in Ron Paul's name in 2012. I live in CA, so my vote never mattered anyway.
