Perot proved once and for all that you can't have a third-party candidate in America's corrupt two-party duopoly.

That why Ron Paul ran as a Republican candidate despite being Libertarian. It's why Bernie Sanders ran as a Democratic candidate despite being Independent (Socialist). And it's why Trump did the same thing as Ron and ran as Republican despite being rich enough to self-fund a campaign as Perot did.

Even when you game the system by running as a candidate, the corrupt duopoly will still try to destroy you but at least you have a shot at getting on the national debate stage. If you manage to give a good performance and poll well then it becomes increasingly obvious when they sabotage you.
