I grew up in TN, pretty based. Nashville and Memphis are bad, but it's still pretty red there. No state income tax either.

What’s your point? You think they voted those commie bastards into office? I’m still in the blue part of OR, and I’d like to move too. It’s hard with the jobs and our kid’s schools and friends. I’d move back to Montana, but the wife and I can’t do our jobs there.😢

Every State. The urban hellholes suck, the rest of it's great. I don't see a peaceful resolution or future, since they feel entitled to control everything.

My wife and I have a friend who was like a "sometimes come over for dinner friend" who figured out we were Trump supporters at some point. Not hard, just walk into my office and look around some. The bookshelf really gives it away. She stewed on it for months, occasionally making offhand comments but never really "going there". We knew she was a liberal, you couldn't miss the signs. At all.

Then the last time she was here she just spun on me after a few glasses of wine and just...went off. I was sorta taken aback at first but calmly answered her demanding questions. Yes, I support Trump. She didn't like that.

Then she stormed out of our house for the last time. Shortly thereafter she announced to the world that she was moving to Seattle to get away from this horrible deep red pocket of ickiness. Sold her nice modest home, took her daughter with her, and moved to ole Seattle. Her house here probably sold for $150k or so, three bedroom ranch. A similarly priced place in Seattle? LOL

For awhile she'd occasionally text my wife to I guess brag about how awesome it's going for her there. Surprisingly, haven't heard anything at all for the last year or so. Wonder how she's liking it now?

I just read a news article that said 132 businesses in downtown Seattle have closed for good this year. They blamed the pandemic primarily, but pussyfooted around the "unrest". The article did admit the specific store mentioned, Columbia, had been looted. The pictures showed a lot of boarded up windows with graffiti.

booblitchutz 15 points ago +15 / -0

Not hearing anything in your story about this woman’s husband. I’m guessing....

12
ShiffsDeadHooker 12 points ago +12 / -0

LUL I'm not sure she was ever married but she has two or three kids. Honestly she was more of my wife's friend, I just tolerated her basically. Her kids are complete messes in their late teens/twenties last I heard. She took one of them to Seattle.

4
shortermemory 4 points ago +4 / -0

That poor daughter.

3
Buff_cousin_Elroy 3 points ago +3 / -0

I’m behind enemy lines in Seattle, I can guarantee she can’t find shit for 150k, like not even a studio condo. She’s renting and throwing her savings away.

Go a little further. I left the left coast for the sweet sunny south 20 years ago, and it's horrible. I 10/10 wouldn't tell any of your liberal Oregonians to do it. What's that in pocket my you ask? Well nothing really, just low taxes, low cost of living, and gun. They give you a gun when you get your drivers license. It's unbearable.

Private sale background checks really don't matter, nobody will sell anything without a CCW unless they ship to a FFL dealer anyway.

Erikabodereka 18 points ago +18 / -0

Don’t move to the south. We are barbarians. We have bad breath and hate taking our monthly shower. Our outhouses are full of flies and don’t even get me started on the size of the cockroaches here. Nope, I would never recommend this place to anyone who wants a civilized life. Could someone please hand me my banjo?

For gods sake don’t come to Texas! They force you to go to church and you have to ride a horse everywhere.. if you can make it past all the rattlesnakes and banditos!

2
Cyer6 2 points ago +2 / -0

I got my Texas LTC and it was easier than getting a driver's license. They make it SO easy...

  • Apply on-line and pay a fee (of course). But there's discounts for vets etc.

  • The application process schedules your finger prints at a mobile site. Cost about $10.

  • Complete the 5-6 hour course with a range qual. Both were very easy.

  • License comes in the mail in a few weeks. Good for 5 years and you can renew on-line!

3
VelveetaJohnson 3 points ago +3 / -0

No course in Alabama. Five year CCL for like $100. I was out the door in 15 minutes.

3
Sarthax 3 points ago +3 / -0

California experience with Conceal Carry permits.

  • Apply on-line and pay a fee (of course). But there's discounts for trannys etc.
  • The application process schedules your finger prints at a mobile site. Cost about $300
  • Complete the 5-6 hour course with a range qual $500. Both were very easy.
  • Go fuck yourself because you were denied after you paid everything and went through a training course.
  • Donate $10,000 to the local Sherrif's relection fund.
  • License comes in the mail in a few days

The perfect example of what will happen to blue cities. Talent and capital will flee, and they will implode on themselves. Good for you.

It's the 1970s all over again. And apparently the country learned nothing then.

9
Peppers [S] 9 points ago +9 / -0

They never do. I agree. We will be saving at least 3-4k a year in taxes just being out of that city/county

10
Libertysheimdall1 10 points ago +10 / -0

I left California six years ago because even then I could sense how bad it was going to get. I save enough money in taxes to pay the mortgage. It's insane.

These blue cities are going to look like Escape from New York in a few years.

Much of my family is still there, only my brother seems to even notice all the s***, and that's because they take the bus to where he lives. I taught him the important word called mossberg, so he is more than able and willing to play whack a zombie in his front yard, should they ever show up. I also taught him the secret of putting Trump stickers on protester cars.

bluedevilga 8 points ago +8 / -0

Came out of one of those two liberal arts colleges and grew up next to a funny name bridge over i- called terwilliger. got the f*** out on graduation and now I live in a beautiful South. congratulations, Portland was perfect but The Californians who moved there without understanding why they left California have now destroyed oregon.

I don't blame you. I made the push last month and moved to Hillsboro. I drive downtown sometimes and it's a wasteland. Hardly any cars at night and everything is boarded up. So many tents now it's ridiculous. I love the suburbs man.

5
CyclopticErotica 5 points ago +5 / -0

Portland was a blast in the 90's. Almost nothing from then still exists.

Where in Oregon (apart from Portland) would you guys recommend? I was looking at property in the Beatty area, and it wasn't too expensive. Basically I wanna move out of Portland down the road when I have an opportunity to, and build a tiny house/cabin on multiple acres, grow my own food, etc.

Move to Harrisburg and feel the American pride! Florence is a great coastal town too it seems.

Eugene and their white liberal guilt made me laugh tho

3
Slothboy 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think the Donald/Aurora area is pretty based and it's right off the freeway. If you still want to be in the vicinity of pdx.

Canby also.

Klamath Falls, Redmond, Medford too, really but it's close to Ashland so beware the hippies

Edit: junction city, St Paul, harrisburg. Oakridge is nice but not much of an economy.

3
Lotsofdieyareeahh 3 points ago +3 / -0

Eastern or Southern Oregon for sure.

Property values in cities with 150,000+ are minimum $300k. It's not worth it.

6
The_Synthesizer 6 points ago +6 / -0

There is another way as well.

I maintain my Portland residence but I also have a farm about an hour and 15 minutes north. Organic beautiful greenhouses chickens the works....

It's an escape to get away from what Portland has become and also gives you distance to appreciate the few things the city does right...some restaurants etc.

I have helped a lot of people escape. Lol

Good job to you.

4

Good for you. Saying a prayer for you now. May God bless you and prosper you with far more than wealth can offer. But may He give you the wealth too.

4
Lotsofdieyareeahh 4 points ago +4 / -0

I moved out of Portland and moved to Dallas, TX.

Unfortunately I still have my 1st house there, but I generate 30% return every year by renting it to soyboys.

The moment it stops being profitable I'll sell it in a heartbeat and I'll stop paying those insane property taxes. Atleast now I don't haven any income tax that was stolen by the State.
