It was mayors and local city/county councils imposing the fines. Mostly Democrats. Under new order no local government can impose fines for masks, restaurants and bars must be allowed to open to at least 50% capacity, and any limitations below 100% must be supported by actual scientific evidence and will be subjected to scrutiny. Movie theaters too. Desantis also said we must have a full stadium for the Super Bowl in January, and wants fans back in stadiums now. Best Governor of a large state in the US, hands down.
I get so pissed off when I see this going on in other states and a place like Texas where I live feels like I'm in CA. I'm happy this happening for Florida because someone needs to start breaking up this media/dem generated narrative. Hopefully it will start to move to other states like ours.
This is what I've been saying. When conservative governors give the freedom of decision to local democrat officials, the democrats officials use that freedom to take away the freedom of their citizens.
In every case, you need to require that local gov cannot pass any more stringent regulations than those required by the state.
Wonderful news. Does this order then override local mask ordinances or just remove the fines? Or is it one and the same? In other words, do local businesses still have the power to require masks and deny entrance despite their being no fine? Genuinely curious how this will play out in some of the more restrictive counties.
wondered the same...will stores in florida get the message or will they still "require" masks...im tired of shopping only at wal mart because I know they wont hassle me for not wearing a mask
That's great news but fines should never have been imposed on the first place

I'm real pleased with DeSantis. Please tell him to call Abbott.
and DeWine
So glad I left Ohio 18 years ago.

Call him a pussy, hopefully. You see that bullshit he’s trying to push today?
“Here’s my legislative agenda, but I won’t convene the legislature to do a fucking thing about it”
Yeah, I want the NFL to fail.

Imagine the booing if they kneel or pull any other kind of BLM BS...

Businesses can do what they want, but local govt can’t force them to mandate masks. Can’t imagine many businesses will keep requiring them.
Hope FL businesses will want fewer Branch Covidians and more Based Patriots.

Guess it will play out, store-by-store and regionally over the weekend until the dust settles.
