With today's medical advancements they shouldn't have to put down the horse. I'm almost positive they can "re-shoe" em So to speak. I mean I'm no expert on horses but they should be able to help it. And then retire him to a nice rolling field of grass to graze on for the rest of his days. But leave it to the "progressive left" to put em down unnecessarily.
They say that yes the animal won't die from the wounds but it will never be able to be ridden again and it will never have a good quality of life. It seems this forced march on pavement without shoes completely destroyed his hooves and legs.
That's awful. He shouldn't be rode again. If they can help em I hope they will and let him spend his days in a animal refuge. Not sure how many are in their area but there are places that will care for em if he makes it.
A horse is a large, powerful, half-ton animal evolved to stand upright on four legs and run for long periods of time across open grasslands. Four delicate, sensitive legs.
Any injury to a horse’s leg can be fatal. A cut in the wrong place. A pulled tendon. Infection. A fracture. Horses can’t be kept in leg casts. They can’t walk with nerve damage or ligament tears. They’re too heavy for amputation, can’t have a leg bound up to heal, because they cannot balance themselves on three legs. They can’t hold themselves upright. If they go down, the weight of their body can slowly crush them to death; nerve and organ damage results from prolonged periods on the ground.
This, if they get a leg injury, even mild ones, they have to be euthanized. I think there are some extreme interventions that can happen now, but are so expensive and crazy they’re usually only used for very valuable racehorses.
This animal was run - RUN - across miles of pavement without shoes. No horse without shoes should ever be even walked for a significant period of time on asphalt. That’s not some light bruising to the bottom of its feet. Remember the hoof is basically fingernails fused into a thick pad. That’s having the hooves absorbing the pounding of high speed and hard surfaces, causing shock injuries all the way up into the tendons and bones. Have you ever had shin splints? That’s mild compared to what this horse is likely going through.
Well considering I'm not a veterinarian, no. But there are clinics out there that do charity work for animals and places that keep em after. And for sure, I bet it is expensive as fuck. I always wanted a horse but you need land for them to graze and a stable to keep em in. And yes, putting down an animal is a hard thing to do but sometimes necessary. Was just hoping they could help em, that's all.
Yeah for sure. It’s super sad dude. But that’s what makes this incident so despicable. They’re beautiful, delicate animals. Respect them and take good care of them. You just don’t do what this guy did to a horse. Hard stop. And he’s a piece of shit for it.
That said , like I said before, unfortunately putting down horses is something you got to be prepared for if you own horses. But it shouldn’t happen like this.
Horses aren't delicate. Feed them, house them, train them, and treat them with respect, they'll work their butts off for their owners for years and years in good health. Horses grew this country from a colony to a first world nation.
Horses are like any animal, they respond poorly to abuse. I doubt the piss poor handling of this poor creature started recently, and I wouldn't doubt he's abused other animals in the past.
I want to see the judge forbid him to own animals, ever again. They do that for the worst of the animal hoarders and abusers.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Medical advancements have improved, but one still has to work with the basic equine anatomy. This issue is going to be based on the bones.
Reports came out that the horse has "drastically improved and is resting on a private farm now and is expected to be walking again. Although he will never be rode again".
So thank the Lord for that. I knew SOMEBODY could help that poor horse.

What a piece of shit that guy is.
It sounded like the injuries went past just bruised hooves. It apparently collapsed multiple times after the incident while trying to treat it.
You could see its legs bleeding when they were loading it up too.
Oh, I'm sure he will be sore for awhile but with some treatment and rest it should be fine. I hope at least. This is fucked up.
If you haven't I suggest you read the piece

I don't think so.
Saw yesterday that the horse has drastically Improved and is resting on a private farm now. He won't be rode again but he will walk and be fine.
Edit: they also put it on iv for the dehydration and it seems to be taking it well.
I've heard conflicting information on the injuries, as well as the motivations of the rider. The whole story is confusing. Census cowboy?
sadly, a lot of democrats do that.
Let’s talk about the horse here briefly.

This guy was a scumbag of the highest order.
Oh yeah, the guy is a real piece of shit. And I hope karma comes round fast and hard for em.
It's sad but even prized race horses with leg injuries get put down. It's nigh on impossible for leg injuries on horses to heal.
That and it's expensive to keep a lame horse around eating all the hay & pellets and not making you any money
Treating a lame horse is really expensive. Could you do it? Yeah, but you’re talking mucho $$$$.
Rode for years. Love the animals. But if you ride, putting down the animal is unfortunately just part of experience of owning/riding horses.
