My blood's boiling right along w/ yours. Animals have so much more heart and a thought process and feelings and awareness than people realize and I can't stand the though of this poor horse driven to this point and being in such agony. I wish I could take him and do whatever he needs to get well. He would never know another unkind action or word. Poor little guy. I won't say more, but I am so mad.
Sadly, this is common in the melanin blessed riding groups at Mardi Gras. Some are excellent horsemen, and exemplify why people should be allowed to ride horses in Mardi Gras parades. But more than a few must be this guy's cousins.
