This equine injury risk was the first thing I thought of when I saw that ‘cowboy’, but I knew Chicago police use horses and thought ‘there’s no way they could be that stupid...’
Next time I’ll know better than to underestimate the Lightfoot-clan.
When I first saw this show up, my biggest concern was rioters coming after and hurting the horse, because I didn't think anyone who would do a stunt like the Census Cowboy would be stupid or cruel enough with all eyes on them to allow a horse to be misused and mishandled in such a way.
I'm so angry right now. If Lightfoot manages to get him out of charges, I'm gonna lose my mind.
The left loves the cuties style of spotlighting stuff huh? So this person believes in the systemic system of oppression so he beats and works a horse to death like it was some slave. WTF!
That really doesn't work, horses support their weight by locking their knees and ligaments in their legs. If they are unable to stand after a few hours and have to support their weight on any other part of their body they generally are injured buy this and die.
Horses can turn sick and die real easy. You have to constantly keep an eye on them, even when they’re just roamin around a field. A city environment presents additional risks, but you don’t have to be a fucking farrier to know that concrete and asphalt is going to be hell on hooves.
Running that far, that fast, on pavement with no protective shoeing means the horse likely has what is called mechanical founder -- their hooves literally separate from the tissue underneath and the bones of the feet can come through the bottom. It's a horribly painful thing; there is no medical correction if it goes catastrophic (and even a severe case leaves the animal crippled and in pain the rest of its life), so the best thing to do is to euthanize it.
Horses can't lay on their sides for long periods of time; their body weight is too much, and they need to be able to move around in order to keep blood flowing to their extremities and to help digest their food.
Asshole gave an interview saying he'd do it again to spotlight systemic systems of systematic institutionalized systems of something...
And after I read that I think a whipping is too light. Throw his animal abusing ass out of a helicopter.
Animal abuse is now federal felony, which President Trump signed into law.
Yes sir this pede knows.
yep..thanks for that reminder.
I saw this tweet yesterday. Hope the animal is forced to get the same punishment the horse is

I blame Lightfoot and her new-world-order allegiance-pledgers even more than the ignorant diversity-hire they propped up on the horse.

Any kind of harness would put the weight on the horses body and would be very similar to the horse laying down.
It's not totally impossible, but unlikely. They have some solutions but generally they use this type of stuff on million dollar race horses. It's really expensive. https://www.horsetalk.co.nz/2019/04/02/rehab-harness-injured-horses/

They can’t survive long periods on the ground. Too heavy.
I think there are some treatments like you describe, with slings and special track systems in barns, but... not at this level of care.
Horses aren't very good at healing sadly.

OK I take back what I said. 10 years is too light.
He's got a GoFundMe page to get money to buy more horses.
Look on the bright side. Civil war may suck, but at least we'll get to take out the trash. Make your lists, and check them twice.
Well, my husband and I do have our 29 Days list...
Whats a 29 days list? You could be listing commies, not days.
