I'm a 3rd generation Marine and I can assure you there has been a slow but steady decline in the toughness of the Corps. The stories my WW2 and Korean War vet grand father told (not necessarily about combat but just life in the Corps) were saltier than those my Vietnam vet dad would tell. By the time I got to Parris Island in 1994, the DIs could actually be reprimanded if they were caught cursing at a recruit. We had a geeky series commander that was always sneaking around to keep an eye on heavies.

OH HELL NO THERE YOUWHO. What a horrible mistake that would be. Taking a bug dump on the tradition of what makes the Corps special. We have a connection to our history that feeds the esprit de corps and for many of us, it started at Parris Island.
I thought it was a travesty when they stopped teaching recruits how to use iron sights and started using optics. Optics are worthless if they get broken. There is a serious lack of leadership and the horrible decisions being made are tearing apart the very fabric of what makes a Marine the most ferocious warrior on the planet.
Smudge pot, Five-seveN. Only old Corps knows what that is. My first Qual was an A1. 236 pre-qual, 241 qual. Series High. I'm more than ready for the antifatards. 21 P-Mags filled with 5.56x45.
