First -- I don't for one minute believe it will actually amount to 500 billion dollars unless plenty of steps are met. (Meaning -- it will only go to those who deserve it/earn it) -- it's not just a flat payout as many here keep implying.

Second -- It's excellent PR. It's a massive dollar figure that catches people's attention (See another pede's comment in here for example). It shows that they are serious about addressing a lack of economic opportunities. Look around on predominantly Black websites -- it's causing a stir. It's a talking point.

Third -- Stop acting about "muh taxes" 50% of population pays 97% of the taxes, but the top 20% pays about 90% of the taxes. Meaning : The same people who currently pay tons of taxes, still will be paying tons of taxes. In reality --in the worst case scenario you painted, it would cost around $300 per household.

(You know probably a fraction of the cost your taxes went down by voting for Trump).
