I asked him if I could use his band's music for my upcoming gaming podcast, and the conversation basically became "your political opinion and things you've said online are not things I want anywhere near my music". Once he asked if I was a fan of Kyle Rittenhouse, I knew where it was going.

I'm almost all out of friends. Still voting Trump.

Edit: Convo -

Me: "So hypothetically, if i was interested in use of a (Band Name) song for a podcast, who do i talk to? My brother and I are starting up a gaming podcast and are trying to find music to use. We can go royalty-free, but if it's possible to get another avenue of exposure for you I'd like to"

Him: "Ha, Play some Nugent instead !"

Me: "Why would i do that lol. Dude has one too many songs about little girls. Nooo thanks haha"

Him: "Still better than Gary Puckett"

Me: "Quite a bar to set."

(Here's where I let him know I realize what he's doing)

Me: "If the message is kinda "I'd like to keep my music a fair distance from you", it's understandably received. I don't want to jeopardize or compromise your chances at more success. Being that I'm blocked on my personal Instagram page, it isn't that hard to decipher lol"

(Note: His band is already signed and has toured multiple countries and been played on Sirius XM, so they already have a level of success)

Him: "I dont think it would impact it either way as far as success. Yeah if you're trying to pry it out of me the things i've seen you say on the internet are nuts. You insulted many of my friends you don't even know. One person even asked me who you are saying they sent your picture to their cousins."

Me: "Who sent what to who?" (I was confused here because of his last sentence)

Him: "Hard to keep track of how many you got internet tough with. At a certain point it was a liability on me. Telling a girl with one lung "womp womp" Cause she was scared to go back to work at her bar back in April. Who does that? We've known each other a long time. You didnt burn the bridge down but it will be closed for repairs for a while. (This goes back to some friend of his ripping into people not wearing masks because SHE is immunocompromised, so she said she can't go back to work and I said "womp womp". She never revealed what her medical issue was. I was only learning it in this convo.)

Me: "That's your decision. Sorry to hear that. I don't care about people being offended on Facebook because they're too sensitive to understand nobody has to cater to them. Nobody has to change their behavior because a girl is immunocompromised. It's up to her to not put herself in the situation. Why am i wrong in acting as though something that isn't my problem ISN'T my problem?"

Him: "Apply that last sentence to me regarding the gigantic chip on your shoulder"

Me: "There's no chip here. I don't support criminals, rioters, or terrorists. It saddens me to learn you do"

Him: "I'm sorry it's there but you cannot troll my page and my friends. One of these days one of them might catch up with you and that wouldnt be my problem either. I tried to make sure that wouldnt happen. I gotta know Kyle Rittenhouse fan or not?"

Me: "Yep. Defended himself against armed terrorists. You can disagree, but you'd be objectively wrong. Not that it stops people from pushing dumb shit anyway."

Him: (3 emojis - Fire, Bridge, Fire)

Me: "Again, that's on you. Sorry to hear that. Just know that you're voluntarily burning this bridge because you're choosing to put politics over a 33- year- long friendship. I'd hang out with you tomorrow if you asked and wouldn't even think of talking politically... but hey, if the wrong people found out, you'd be canceled for associating with a nazi or a fascist or something, right? Have to cater to the mob to keep your livelihood. I get it."

Him: "You need help i can't give you. I am sorry too but that's it."

Me: "I just hope, honestly, that you and your family remain safe in the increasingly violent and dangerous NYC that you and your friends seem to be perfectly OK with. So it's official, that's it? We stop at 33? Let me know. I don't need a lecture or a patronizing reason behind it. If you're choosing to end our friendship 100%, at least have the respect after 30+ years and tell me it's done."

Him: "Why are you dragging this out? You are an asshole to all my other friends and unhinged behind the surface. Get well maybe we'll talk in 10 years or maybe not."

Me: "Ok."

End convo. If you're interested, DM me for podcast info. I don't want some leftist to find it and cancel it before it starts.

Thanks, guys.

Edit: My son has this guy's name as his middle name, not his first.

Your best friend is a retard. This is a great opportunity to flush bad people around you.

I just lost my best friend over similar circumstances. He sent a well known George Carlin skit about how politicians and government screw us over (which I agree with, been a Carlin fan all the way back to the Johnny Carson days) but the visual was supposedly a slide show of crooked politicians, but mostly showed Trump. This was sent to a group chat, btw. When I replied that I loved the Carlin message but could do without the liberal propaganda. he went off on a rant about how he was sick of us conservatives friends tormenting him. He has since put up a Biden sign and stopped communicating, with me anyway. Still voting for Trump.

I've said it before, but it's insane how much people underestimate the power of mass media to control your mind; people are losing friends, family and more because derranged leftists will sooner believe their timeline propaganda than their own reasoning, even when it comes to people they've known their whole lives.

u/PeoplePerson, and u/thebassdude. Their losses, not yours. You're better off without someone whose quick to drop you over political differences.

Agreed. Have only kept friends who are trumps supporters or people thick skinned and mature enough not to reeee about everything. It’s not so bad.

Bullet_Tooth_Tony 28 points ago +29 / -1

It really isn't that bad. It has done nothing but favors cleaning up my social sphere. I even have made it so my annoying lefty family members, like my sister, have agreed to just stfu about politics when we are around each other.

We are a Christian background so my subtle red pills are talking about traits of Christianity that tie to conservative thought without making it apparent. They always agree and I grin eagerly. Their time will come.

Trumpette2020 8 points ago +8 / -0

I dont understand how any Christian could be a liberal, especially with their stance on abortion. It makes no logical sense to me!

Some of us are losing family members. Once our common relative passes away (in a long time, God willing) there are some that I have no desire to remain in contact with. For now and for family harmony I tolerate them

I lost a cousin after he called me so upset that I am getting married on Halloween and continuing with my original wedding plans. He went on to tell me how I’m going to kill his diabetic father (who I already spoke with and told I understand if he’s unable to attend - and he is happily attending), condescendingly educated me on previous pandemics, and then told me that I used to be his inspiration after i went through some horrific trauma as a child and healed - but now I’m basically a piece of shit and deserve every bad thing that has and will happen to me for having a wedding during a pandemic. I knew he was a disgusting piece of liberal garbage and I allowed myself to tolerate him for too long.

Lol. Oh because you don’t buy into this manufactured bullshit created by globalist. Oh no! Just stay in the house if you’re so scared of life, lefties.

Total nut jobs.

I will celebrate your wedding Pede at my retirement party on the same day. I am finishing a 40 year career on that date, and will not be social distancing or wearing a damn face diaper. Besides you can't drink while wearing one, and I plan on it being a two fisted night.

Loving all these stories from you guys. This is cathartic for me. I thought I was the only one going thru these experiences.

Could be a time traveler, raising his past self.

Not the way I'd choose to emulate Trump, but different strokes, I guess.

I get it that we don’t know circumstances, but I cut pregnant women slack for being crazy right now. There have been a few reports of babies being taken from Covid-positive mothers for “protection”. If I was about to give birth, I’d be scared shitless that they might take my baby.

13
Nolivesmatter 13 points ago +13 / -0

Fair enough

10
Lankyevilme 10 points ago +14 / -4

She's pregnant and scared, it's a shame what they have done to so many people. Don't go if you don't want, but cut her some slack of shes being crazy to protect her baby.

Then don't host a damn party. Fuck me people make excuses for an obvious virtue play.

Kids have zero chance of getting sick with Wuhan Flu.

6
peltast 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's not a "what they think of covid' thing. It limits movement of the non believers. I had to go to my niece's graduation a few months ago. Wear a POS mask. Quite uncomfortable, and afterwards, we couldn't celebrate because everybody there was paranoid about contact.

2
DebbieinDallas 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep, anyone under 75 who is worried about covid is a retard.

51 Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. 52 For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.
