The Governor of Illinois issued a blanket lockdown on basically everything but left exemptions for religious gatherings and a few other things. The state republican party wanted to have rallies/meetings above 50 people and so they sued saying that it's not fair that they shouldn't be allowed to meet when churches could do so.

ACB and the other two justices said this was a horseshit argument since the 1A gives religious institutions special protections and insulation from the government. And it was.

Spez: I would have liked a 100% "Fuck these lockdowns" attitude from her, but it wasn't the gloom and doom scenario that some have been asserting lately about how she's pro-lockdown.

She exercised judicial restraint. The question before her was "Is a political party eligible for the same exemptions and protections as a religious institution?" and she said "No"

I worry she could be female Roberts, but that's still a HUGE upgrade from RBG. I support our president's decision if he picks her. I prefer Lagoa myself.

The lockdown ruling was a little bit more nuanced than I thought. Even Gorsuch voted for applying the civil rights act to transgender people *rolls eyes.

I'd like to have another Thomas on the court, but I don't see anyone who is qualified and fits the profile that'll get someone confirmed in time.

I really hope Trump is going to pull a switch at the last minute.

then it's not so hard to picture that if/when the election gets decided at the SCOTUS

JR and ACB join the remaining liberal 3 for a 5-4 ruling in favor of Biden..... allowing the left/msm to crow about how "bipartisan" it was

you know the deep state isn't letting him win if they have a way to stop him

and Mitch is most definitely part of the deep state.... and she's his choice
