She has been on Trump’s shortlist for years. She was considered for the seat which went to Kavanaugh. Trump even said he was saving her for RBG. So it’s not like he suddenly found her at the last minute because he needed a woman. She’s been vetted and considered already.
Dems HATE her. That’s a good endorsement.
She is reliably conservative, and very strict about it. Even so far as doing things which are unpopular, like giving felons their 2A rights back.
She needs to be confirmed quickly, without fuss or drama. So somebody previously vetted is best. The fact she’s a woman means Dems can’t call her a rapist. Her kid with Down’s syndrome means she takes pro-life stances seriously and puts her money where her mouth is. Her adopted kids mean accusations of racism fall flat. So Dems are left attacking her religion, which will be an epic backfire.
Finally, consider who she’s replacing - the most reliable left wing vote there was. ACB will be a huge improvement.

The state GOP failed hard because they made that their argument which is horseshit. The district court denied them, the 7th Circuit (Barrett) denied them. Then they appealed to SCOTUS and Kavanaugh denied them.
