I have always found it really weird when people say "Obama was/is articulate" . The I started hearing people say, "he/she is articulate" when referring to "minorities." Is the assumption that minorities cannot talk? Or express their feelings/ideas?

The assumption was that Obama didn't speak in broken English like so much of his demographic do. They're essentially admitting that the average white moderate voter won't vote for ghetto.
