In a recent rally he asked if anyone disagreed with him picking a woman (for scotus) and then gave the crowd a hard time when no one spoke up. I've seen him do the same thing on immigration when he suggests not deporting every illegal. In that case he applauded the lone person in the crowd that disagreed. In a similar vein, he applauds bikers while talking about how he's more of a limousine guy. It's the exact opposite of the pandering (e.g. take southern accent, bogus hunting trips) of other politicians. It's a sort of celebration of the American spirit of rugged individualism by demonstration not overt words.
