She's a non-white woman, she has the oppression points, that's all that counts these days.

RBG was a dumb evil bitch who had a disdain for our country and the men who founded it, but at least she was knowledgable. Sotomayor is fuckin clown shoes.

They were voting the way they're supposed to - which is if the person is qualified. Those candidates were qualified so they voted yes. That's how the system was supposed to work. Don't get upset that Republicans voted that way - get upset that the Dems have totally broken the system.

I just want to say it’s a sign of a great country that it’s constituents care so much about its legal representation. In Europe people does not even know who their presidents is. Yes EU has three presidents.. I think.. See? I also love the United States. We the people for the people. Even though you don’t necessarily have a small government, some people actually know that that is what you should have. And this is great. That the idea of liberty still is alive in the US.

-1
IcedCovfefe -1 points ago +2 / -3

On what basis should R’s have rejected Sotomayor?

17
deleted 17 points ago +19 / -2
7
Drooperdoo 7 points ago +7 / -0

What makes that worse is that Sotomayor is Puerto Rican, not Mexican. La Raza is a Mexican organization that wants to give back the American Southwest to Mexico to recreate Aztlan. Puerto Ricans have nothing to do with any of that shit. They're American citizens, and have been since 1896. Why would Sotomayor involve herself in that La Raza bullshit?

Idiot. (It's not even her fight. She's not an Aztec and has zero connection to Mexico or its people.)

Worst justice in the last 50 years. The epitome of what a justice should not be. A legal system with no bright lines, a constitution with no meaning, and justices with no bounds or restraint. Such a system turns SCOTUS into an unelected super legislature - and the people who cry about democracy and the electoral college think an unelected body of oligarchs should over see our morality. And RBG was their rock star. Professionally, she was a dangerous ideologue.

She didn't "approve" the policies, she told the Illinois Republicans that their legal argument sucked dogshit and failed as a matter of longstanding law, which it did.

This is what an appellate level judge is supposed to and required to do.

-1

7
JimmyJam 7 points ago +8 / -1

She was bound by SCOTUS precedent. The decision was ordained by her adherence to following her mandate. We don’t need a conservative RBG, we need a Scalia style judge with an autistic adherence to the law.

1
247MAGA 1 point ago +1 / -0

The scotus has gotten shit wrong repeatedly. Why would she be bound to precedence when that precedent is unconstitutional? (For example the ruling that movies weren't covered under free speech, the forced vaccination crap, Obama are being constitutional)

1
JimmyJam 1 point ago +1 / -0

Because according to the constitution a subordinate court is bound by the Supreme Court

3
treefork 3 points ago +3 / -0

She made a ruling it looks like, not just lip service. Unless you mean it's just a ruse to get democrats to like her? That's unlikely and would be a stupid thing to sacrifice your integrity for.

I still operate on the belief that judicial decisions aren't law but instead are decisions based on when the law is in question. Unfortunately for to long Democrats have operated as if judges are lawmakers.

35
Anyone3427 35 points ago +37 / -2

RBG was an idiot and nothing but a placeholder. She purposely died so President Trump could replace her with a better human being.

21
napoleon4321 21 points ago +21 / -0

You know, this wouldn't have happened if Ginsburg hadn't told Obama to pound sand when he asked her to retire in 2013. O'Connor and Kennedy were smart enough to retire before their health declined so Bush and Trump, respectively, could replace them. The same went for Souter and Stevens under Obama. But Ginsburg's arrogance and stubbornness has instead gift wrapped her seat to Donald J. Trump, the last man on Earth she would have wanted to pick her replacement.

Ginsberg: "I would not look to the US constitution,” said US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in an interview with Al-Hayat TV. “If I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012, I might look at the constitution of South Africa, Canada … and the European Convention on Human Rights.”

Canada, yeah, the place with no protected speech and where non-elected officials can just open your door to check if you are complying with an order / rule that was not put before the legislature for decision making.

Fuck you RBG. I'm going to spread the truth about your anti-Americanism for the rest of my days.

After an exorcism there must be things loosed in the person exorcised that change the person forever - what would those changes be ?

Has anyone ever observed and reported?

Our Nation has been exorcised of the evil of RBG.

How she deteriorated such that she saw no evil in the slaughter of innocents even moments before birth - who can know.

I just know we, our Nation, has been delivered of her and I wonder where we will go from here.

Or, I should say, I am eager to witness what joy deliverance brings to a soul, or a Nation, liberated from the shadow.

"George Athan Billias, studying the Constitution and related documents, describes six waves of influence:

From 1776 to 1811, after the American Revolution began, it influenced northwestern Europe and its colonial connections.

1811–1848, after the decline of Napoleon's reputation, it was referenced by Latin American, Caribbean, and European nationalists.

1898–1918, after the Spanish–American War, nationalist movements borrowed from the U.S. Constitution in Asia and Latin America.

1918–1945, after World War I, its influence spread with movements for decolonization of Africa, Mid-east and Asia.

1945–1974, after World War II, independence movements consulted it.

1974–1989, after United Nations expansion, once nondemocratic regimes, including European ones, transitioned towards constitutional democracies incorporating elements of the U.S. Constitution."
