Simple. If you are an old or ugly woman, and self-conscious about it, a mask is your best friend.
Old?
Barring obvious tells like grey hair or bags under the eyes, it's hard to tell a 20 year old woman in a mask from a 50 year old woman in a mask.
Ugly?
A mask covers your entire face, except for the eyes.
Bad complexion? Hidden.
Bad teeth? Hidden?
Big nose? Hidden.
No chin? Hidden.
Double Chin? Hidden (unless it's huge)
Just plain fugly? Hidden.

I say we replace masks with paper bags and let people decide if they are too pretty to wear one. I look like Idris Elba, so I’m out.
