Tatiana Turner, 40, the founder of pro-BLM group Caravan4Justice in Yorba Linda, was arrested a short distance away after she fled the scene and charged with attempted murder
Penal Code 664/187(a) PC defines the crime of attempted murder in California. This is where the perpetrator intends to kill someone and takes a direct step towards killing the person, but the intended victim does not die. Attempted first-degree murder is punished by life in state prison. Attempted second-degree murder is punished by 5, 7, or 9 years in state prison.
Under California Penal Code 245 PC, the crime of assault with a deadly weapon occurs whenever a person attacks (or attempts to attack) another person with a deadly weapon other than a firearm. The offense can be charged as a misdemeanor or a felony, and carries a maximum sentence of up to 4 years in jail or prison.
Assault with a deadly weapon is often referred to as “ADW” or aggravated assault. The crime of assault (Penal Code 240 PC) is the unlawful attempt to violently injure someone.
I assume she's facing AT LEAST two counts of each, since she definitely hit two people, and charged into a crowd of many more. Definitely could be facing life in prison for this.
