You really have to dig for the data. NPR/PBS won't tell you in a transparent way...CPB has it somewhat. https://www.cpb.org/files/reports/revenue/2018PublicBroadcastingRevenue.pdf

Boooooo, Yiddler memes are supposed to rhyme!

If revenue from NPR is small,

Why keep the network alive at all?

The taxpayer demands results,

But NPR says propaganda is all!

Non-accountant here. I don't see it at 32% on this doc.

I do wonder how much the state, local, and university money they receive is sourced from the federal government.

"Corp for Public Broadcasting", "Federal grants", and "State & local tax-based" and divided by total revenue is 32%, but that includes selling programs on dvd, streaming companies buying rights, and actual normal business revenue.

Table 2 shows "Non-Federal" at 91.6% so Federal is 8.4% for Public Radio (which is mostly just NPR I think).

In Table 2, it states that Federal Grants & Contracts are 1.2 %, what are we missing?

What State and Local tax funding doesn't count? Why are you only considering money extorted by the feds? Table 6 shows the 32% for all of 'Public Broadcasting'.

I see, the composite of all. Thanks!

Tax funding "Public Broadcasting" is a wealth transfer from the middle class to an elite, upper class segment who are disproportionately financially upscale, white, college graduates and liberal.

Worse, they are smug when defending NPR/PBS. They sniff that NPR isn't biased, and disparagingly demand proof of any alleged bias. Besides, it isn't a lot of taxes they haughtily proclaim while they opine about their book club, the best Chardonnay, the newest Volvo, and the best summer camps for Buffy.

Insufferable hypocrites. They say they’re allies of the black man’s struggle, but if a black dude knocked on their door at night they’d sit quietly sipping their chai and wait for him to leave.

I wrote an email to NPR recently asking them why they blatantly lied about Trump while using my tax dollars.

They declined to respond.

One of their tricks is Federal $ flow to individual "public" radio stations and from there money is paid in subscription fees to NPR.

Their convoluted shell companies, pass-throughs, and money laundering would make the accountants at ENRON marvel at the hidden streams of funding.

Also, keep in mind the public 'donated' the spectrum to them and that's worth billions in today's market. And the donations they're considered tax free.

Why can’t Trump put NPR/PBS up for auction and get the taxpayers out of the broadcasting of propaganda business?
