Imo would've gone with Skinner sights on the Henry, but still damn fine! Been debating on either the Big Boy Steel or the Single Shot in 44 magnum, how bad is it to take apart for cleaning?
That's what I've seen, my local store has the case hardened model in 45LC and it's a beautiful gun, really smooth action too! Looking at the steel though because the bluing and walnut will match my super blackhawk
Yeah, good thinking. This Henry was my first 357/38 firearm. A few weeks after I purchased the rifle, I bought a 357/38 special revolver to share ammo.
The 357/38 special is nice because you can buy "relatively" cheap 38 special for targets and plinking and such. Save the more expensive 357 magnums for commies
EZ to Clean, EZ to Fix.... if I was stuck in an Apocalyptic Survival Scenario this and a revolver would be my choices for guns. Everything else would be a liability.
If there weren't millions of interchangable AR-15 parts and ammo laying around in such a scenario, I might agree. But give that there are millions of AR-15 spare parts, spare complete rifles, spare magazines, spare ammo, and same for Glock pistols, out and about in the US already, those are the two things I would choose. I don't personally even like Glocks and don't own any. But I would make sure to grab one in an SHTF scenario just because those have the highest chance of being able to find replacement parts and ammo for anything that will eventually break or run out.
Beautiful Henry! I love those short, octagonal barrels!
That said, if I were to go in hot on commies in Minecraft, I think I'd prefer a lever with a side loading gate. Much quicker and easier to duck into cover and grab some ammo from a pocket and top up one handed.
Nice. I an getting my dad one for xmas. He loved Wanted Dead or Alive and though the mares leg was just for the show and wasnt sold (i know steve mcqueens js one kf a kind, but i can get close).
I love lever-action guns. I had a BB gun like that growing up and a kid and I spent hours and hours at my grandparents playing with it outside. Wonderful memories.
What’s the best lever action gun money can buy right now? And what’s the best caliber to get for cheap ammo so I can use it a lot at the range but also still blast commies with? I don’t have a gun yet but I’d love to get one and I want to get the best
It seems like most people like Henry (shown in this picture), or Marlin.
I recommend a lever action rifle that can shoot both 357 magnum, and .38 special. These are ideal, because you can target practice with the cheaper 38 special ammo, as 357 magnum is somewhat expensive.
Also, you can get a wide selection of revolvers down the road to share the same ammo.
Henry Big Boy 357
Trijicon Accupoint
Fiddleback Outpost custom leather sling
Beautiful gun. Just gave me flashbacks of watching The Rifleman when I was a kid.
WiTh ChUcK cOnNorS!
Skorzeny!
That's one fancy way of saying freedom boner...
Wow. I have ordered a henry in 4570 but waiting 2 months now :(
The only good Govt is the 45-70 Govt.
I picked up the 4570 brass with octagon barrel a few years back. I see they are offering a side gate version now... and I've got to have it.
Thats the one i ordered. Im waiting forever
I love my 30-30. Lever actions are AWESOME!
Imo would've gone with Skinner sights on the Henry, but still damn fine! Been debating on either the Big Boy Steel or the Single Shot in 44 magnum, how bad is it to take apart for cleaning?
I highly recommend the Big Boy Steel in .44 mag. Awesome rifle.
That's what I've seen, my local store has the case hardened model in 45LC and it's a beautiful gun, really smooth action too! Looking at the steel though because the bluing and walnut will match my super blackhawk
I only took it apart once so far, and I would have been lost if I didn’t have videos online to follow.
The reemergence of lever guns as cool guy guns was odd and unpredictable, but not unwelcome.
Sweet username (I say that every time I notice you BTW)
Haha thanks. I would love to get a sweet .45LC lever gun/six shooter combo in silver/stainless/chrome/whatever with some sort of black wood furniture.

Im an asshole. I ordered a henry in 4570 2 months ago, since im waiting, i bought a magnum research BFR in 4570 to share ammo lol.
The wait will make you enjoy the Henry even more!
That's a really good idea. And I already have a little .38 snubby. I prefer to have the fewest amount of various calibers as reasonably possible.
I’ve said for years they are the original assault rifles.
I'm not ancient, but I've wanted one all my life... And now they make flashy ones to boot!
You won’t be disappointed. Lifetime warranty
I can't decide if I want the 357 or the 45-70. Be nice to share ammo, but if it's going to be a big boy, it might as well be a big boy.
touché
I have a Marlin SBL in 45-70. It is by far the funnest gun to shoot that I own. The only downside is the cost of ammo.
I decided that reloading equipment will be on this year's Christmas list.
Why not 44 Magnum then? Bigger caliber that's hunting viable, and you can get a sweet single action in it too!

Ya but I can just pick up whatever loot my target drops :D
It’s .... beautiful ....
Thanks! Its the only gun I hang on the wall.
I'm in Massachusetts unfortunately.....
Always makes me smile to find another MA patriot on here!
Favorite day of the week!
I woke up and made this post before I made Covfefe
Your son's gun is beautiful.
Good one!

Can you get a lens to be brass coated? Or maybe just brass garnishes? Gorgeous nonetheless, YEEHAW OP!
Whenever I think of a brass optic, I think of Back to the Future 3:

Very nice, pede. I can taste the venison now...and how sweet it is.
and here my 357 rossi just has a simple scout scope :D. Looks nifty
Gorgeous
That is fucking gorgeous
I see you have mastered the new levitation option.
Its all about the lighting

The historical and the modern joining together to make something beautiful. 357 as well so a nice bit of 'oomph'.
Guess you can also use 38 special for target shooting?
Yes! .38 special is much cheaper. Its surprising how little kick it has compared to 357 magnum.
Good range round though?
Absolutely
Love the Henry rifle but HATE their tube magazines!
Yeah, I guess it’s a love/hate thing
I love my Henry 45/70.
Thanks! (I think the optic cost more than the gun lol)
I've never been one to covet my neighbors house... but that Henry.... drool.
My goodness, that’s a beautiful gun. ❤️
Thanks!
Nice. I an getting my dad one for xmas. He loved Wanted Dead or Alive and though the mares leg was just for the show and wasnt sold (i know steve mcqueens js one kf a kind, but i can get close).
Nice! Yeah this one is the carbine so it’s a little short. I think Henry sells a mares leg.
Lever action is my Shit!!!!!!! <3 MAGA2020
More targets where you live. Do not despair.
Am I the only one who thought this rifle was resting on a toilet bowl?
That looks amazing.
Nice! I've got a big boy in 44 mag to go with my 44 super redhawk!
I have one in .45 LC, no gold and small loop. Most fun gun to shoot that I own. GF is REALLY good with it too.

She's bonafide.
Now this is what I'm talking about...my little brother has one. I'll tell you, feels like home.

Thank you for the reply!
No problem - enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Yippie kai-yay, motherclucker.
Have you tried racking it like in Terminator 2?
With live ammo - no
While larping around my house without ammo loaded - yes.
