He is the Son of God. He willingly sacrificed Himself so we could be saved! And even harder, as a parent --.God sent His Son to die so we might be saved.

So don't get angry at me. .

You say he willingly sacrificed himself? But Jesus said himself he and the father are one. The way, the truth, the light.

Why couldn't god just stop lucifer instead of sacrificing himself in human form, to absolve the sin of man created by God? Seems a lot like how the Democrats operate. It's a racquet.

God didn’t create sin. We choose sin. Satan chose sin. Sin is separation from God, from His holiness, from His perfection. Sacrifices for atonement were made by human priests in the Old Testament for the sins of Israel. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice, being the Son of God, creating perpetual atonement for all who believe, redeeming humanity from the corruption of sin. But we have to choose! God has never forced anyone to do anything. He won’t. It’s the gift of free will.

God created everything. It literally says that in the first book.

BunnyPicnic 3 points ago +5 / -2

So God doesn't have a plan for all of us? What's his plan for the aborted babies?

I'm not trying to be an ass. I just want to know what you guys would say. My whole family is Catholic but I stopped going to church in college. My parents still believe but they don't go to church, I think I opened a lot of questions to them.

Think about what you are saying. God creates everything, including lucifer who was an angel. Why can't God just stop sin without having to believe in Jesus?

Foxbat40 4 points ago +4 / -0

If god made a perfect world with no sin and no wrong actions we would have very limited options for our behavior. Imagine the ice cube maker in your refrigerator. It can't commit a sin because it's actions are limited.

That type of a world bereft of meaningful choice is not what God wanted to create. He wants souls that have had a choice between God and sin an chosen God. Would you want someone in your eternal home who hasn't chosen to be there?

Lucifer is dealt with... neither God, nor His Son died for Lucifer. Now you and me on the other hand... I suppose if God was a Democrat He would be okay with having one set of rules for those He didn't like and another for those He did, but God is NOT a Democrat!

But why would you kill your own son if you are all powerful, all knowing, and all wise?

Have you ever looked at religion from outside the box?

I believe our souls are pure energy, so God had to make a physical electrical pathway for us through His Son dying and making the trip first, so our energy can follow. As for why there is evil on Earth, there must be a need for us to struggle to get to the next life - like a butterfly must struggle out of its chysalis. You can see what giving people something for no work has done here on Earth!

I for one do not believe in what you believe, but I find it really interesting that I don't care that you believe while you have already seemed to have adopted the leftest "Think like me or I will mock you or worse" mentality. How about this? We are all here to support the president and you could probably avoid creating division based solely on your personal religious beliefs. And that really goes for all of the rest of the stupid comments in this thread. We're here for the purpose of supporting our president. Knock off the divisiveness.

We... Absolutely did come from space dust. Almost without any shadow of a doubt. That's not to say, if the bible is actually the "true" holy text, there's no reason to believe that God wasn't the one who put the whole sandbox in motion. Creationism is just flawed, and any geologist could tell you why.

Christian morals and teachings I can get behind, but let's not start pushing scientific knowledge from a book that was used to defend geocentrism.

You’re claim about non-sequitur isn’t valid. You didn’t even ask what he is “saving” us from. The answer would be he is saving us from God’s wrath, which was poured out on His Son rather than us.

JesusisKing 9 points ago +10 / -1

God loved us so much the Word became flesh as to change the nature of flesh through conquering death. :) it’s a much happier than an angry God who need blood to have his ego fulfilled, a common misunderstanding from Greek translations. Logos is rising! Christo Anesti!

9
MouthAgapeForBLMJizz 9 points ago +10 / -1

Why did God create something (humankind) that also needed to be saved from his wrath?

Genuine question.

8
SpaceCadet 8 points ago +8 / -0

He created mankind with free will because no one can truly love without free will. The downside of free will Is the choice to also choose wrong. And so we chose wrong, yet He still gives us all opportunity to choose love and to choose Him, The hallmark of His example of love is choosing to take our Deserved death Upon his shoulders so that we might be saved through Him.

There are lots of stories of gods throughout the ages, but how many of those gods sacrifice their own life for the undeserving mortals He created, so that they may know Him and have a chance to live with him eternally. It’s a story of love from beginning to end.

7
DontTouchMyRice 7 points ago +7 / -0

Tough Question. But I’ll take a stab.

Your question can be broken down into: (1) why did God create Man? and (2) why does Man need saving? Firstly, we cannot know why God would do something because He is all-knowing and we are not. But here’s my guess: God is an embodiment of Love. Love cannot be displayed without having something to love. Hence, God created man to love him, and for us to love God. Secondly, God did not make us to automatically love Him. Why? Because love is made more powerful only by the fact that we have the option to not love. When we sin we choose not to love God and because God is infinitely perfect and loving, he is going to take offence to that. That’s why He sacrificed his Son, out of an act of Love, to bring us back into good standing.

These are just some musings of a new Christian. I would encourage you to seek a local church and find someone who would do a better job than I can.

I think because God gave everyone complete freedom and with that freedom complete responsibility.

Then he gave commandments how not to use that freedom for evil.

Then everyone was disobedient to God and failed to keep his commandments in one way or another. Therefore God's wrath.

But God didn't create everything to be destroyed, so he wanted to save people from his own righteous wrath, so Jesus gave his life in our place, satisfying God's wrath for us, so everyone can now also be saved through Jesus.

So if you're not under Jesus' mercy, you're still under God's wrath.

You didn't even ask where the rain on Mars comes from. The answer would be it is urinated out by a magical Martian dragon that no one has ever seen, but if I shave my mustache the dragon stops urinating for some reason.

Man. You should study philosophy so that you can engage in actual substantive debate about things humans have pondered since the first human.

Being someone who dismisses it out of hand with utterly ridiculous mockery doesn’t make you smart or persuasive, it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are a complete buffoon.

See, the thing about christianity is that you are supposed to have faith. In spite of lack of proof.

You cannot prove or disprove that there is or isn't a god. Because God is ineffable. Maybe beyond our ability to sense or conceive of the presense of God. So relying on fallible and ever evolving human philosophy just doesn't impress me. Sorry.

God sent His Son to die so we might be saved.

Except he didn't 'save' those that get sent to Hell. No forgiveness there...

Y'know if you found and nursed a stray cat but later decided to burn it alive, because it just wandered off and found a new home, you'd be considered a MONSTER--especially if you blamed the cat; and especially if you decided to burn it again after if it had miraculously healed the first time.

Why did this 'ever-loving' God create Hell for some of us?

53
Bullet3250 53 points ago +57 / -4

Sin.

Study what Sin is - and you will have your answer.

Iamnotademocrat1 [S] 42 points ago +44 / -2

Individuals choose what type of life they will lead. Anyone and everyone can reflect and repent.....if you go marching to death with your heels in the ground filled with hatred that is your choice.

12
RealRedneck 12 points ago +17 / -5

It's the ultimate freedom. Without a judeo-christian basis of good and evil and the freedom to choose between the two, the basis of our entire country is meaningless. The why you have legions of atheist Biden voters actively trying to burn the system down.

-33
bitterbut_true -33 points ago +6 / -39

Its a threat.

29
Iamnotademocrat1 [S] 29 points ago +32 / -3

It is always about choice. You choose to ask questions and ask for answers. It is your choice to believe what ever you choose to believe. I shared my understanding and belief.

23
Overmann 23 points ago +28 / -5

Hell wasn't created for us, it was made for the fallen angels.

God created mankind with a free will, if there isn't a bad option, we couldn't exercise our free will, and there would be no difference to not having a free will.

It is up to you to follow God and live, or follow flesh and die. God is perfect, anything less cannot live with Him, therefore if you choose sin, you cannot be with God in Heaven.

9
fadingecho 9 points ago +10 / -1

God created mankind with a free will, if there isn't a bad option, we couldn't exercise our free will, and there would be no difference to not having a free will.

Much more concise than how I was trying to type it out. Have my meaningless points.

-2
Pepbrandt -2 points ago +1 / -3

At the same times even the angels in Heaven aren't perfect. And we won't be either if we get there, right?

5
MerlynTrump 5 points ago +7 / -2

Angels are different than humans, they made their choice once and for all. Humans choose and re-choose throughout their lives, we do thinks we kind of want to do but don't really want to do (think getting in an angry argument and saying things you regret) in part because our emotions get the best of us. Angels and fallen angels are spirit, they don't have hormones or things like that and their knowledge is of a higher degree and their will is stronger. So angels made a deliberate, knowing, decision for or against God and that decision is final.

4
metokur 4 points ago +4 / -0

Those who are in heaven will become perfected just as Jesus was at his resurrection. It will be Impossible for people to sin, just as the holy angels have the ability but choose not to sin because they are in the direct presence of God and all His glory.

17
Drew 17 points ago +19 / -2

Jesus didn’t give anyone a free pass to be a sinner. You still have to follow the narrow path of Christianity. If you want someone who will accept and encourage you to be a sinner lucifer is your guy.

-25
HCQaddict -25 points ago +2 / -27

Jesus is Lucifer in the NT.

13
Drew 13 points ago +15 / -2

What are you smoking?

-27
bitterbut_true -27 points ago +4 / -31

How about we get Jesus and Lucifer to BOTH fuck off out of our lives? One wants us to FEAR God, the other wants us to hurt/rob stupid people. Got a brilliant brain (i.e humanity)...should be able to work out what's right and wrong. BTw I'm not telling 'God' to get out of our lives. I think 'God', Jesus and Lucifer are completely separate...and NO I don't believe Jesus is God. He even said so himself:

John: 14:28:"...because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I."

17
Drew 17 points ago +19 / -2

And btw, you can believe or not believe whatever you like. The people that want to drive us into one global government absolutely believe and follow lucifer, and your lack of belief won’t stop them from doing so.

10
GodfreydeBullion 10 points ago +11 / -1

A lot of edgy atheist kids want to laugh off God so they can convince themselves that watching porn and getting high all the time is not a bad thing but deep down they know it is so they need to snuff out their consciouses and that begins with denying Jesus.

8
SryServiceDown 8 points ago +9 / -1

Just going to ignore where Jesus says that He and the Father are one eh?

4
Drew 4 points ago +7 / -3

How about you believe what you want and mind your own business?

4
TheRealPizzaPope 4 points ago +6 / -2

Jesus told us to “fear” God like you and me “fear” the police. The term “play stupid games and win stupid prizes” could also apply to God.

He wasn’t asking you to fear God like the Muslims fear Allah

5
metokur 5 points ago +5 / -0

Nice false equivalency you have there. I didn't know blatant animal cruelty to spitting in your Creators face daily was the same thing. Instead of blaming a perfect and just God , how about you stop being a sinful piece of shit that shifts the blame on others.
