So what you do is contact the airline first. Let them know your flight and who did it. They will probably back down.
If they do not then you hire a lawyer. He will tell you to go see some specialists (therapist most likely) to get diagnosed. Then the lawyer contacts the airline and maybe you get some financial compensation. You should also get some proof for the future regarding this.

Businesses can follow them, or not. But, following them provides a "safe harbor" that will provide some protection from a lawsuit for negligence.
