How many politicians have ran for president, then lost the election, then became president later?

It's the kiss of death. Americans see you as a loser and so does your party... the party would never run someone again after they already lost the national election... it's too big of a risk.

If you were a democrat, would you want to run against Trump right now?

This is just a sacrifice, they knew they couldn't beat Trump again, so they just elevated Biden so he could take the hit.

I don't think they bargained on him declining so far so fast but they are stuck with him, voting has already started.

Exactly, and that was a goofy situation...

They know it's near impossible to become president, once you've been defeated in a presidential election.

It's why Hillary is completely fucked now.

Nobody wants to be "the other person that lost to Trump".

Nobody that doesn't have dementia anyway.
