They can screw their own lives however they want with bad behaviors. Not subsidizing them would disincentivize people from doing them.
Remember that people reproduce their own behaviors with children as they are transmitted by default. The chances that any given trait you have is similar to your parents is >50%, meaning leftists are likely to produce leftists. We instill our children with our values as well - and even if we don't actively do it, it's one way of doing it anyway.
