Pretty sure there was a mythbusters episode that showed the coffee table she was floating on could have easily supported them both till they were rescued. Didn't even need to rig anything else.
The real Titanic was full of rich people. One guy put on a tux and said that no woman will leave the ship thinking he was a coward. The lifeboats were less than 1/2 full, because the crew couldn't do their jobs. The radio operator was rude to the RO of the nearest ship, so the latter said "screw it" and went to sleep. It was just a massive clusterfuck.
Not to mention the 2+ year Mueller witch hunt, where they specifically scrutinized taxes to the point where they were able to come with charges on Manafort and Cohen for old tax issues.
Somebody actually went to the trouble of mapping out the surface area of her makeshift raft and its buoyancy and determined that they both could have survived but they needed him to die for the plot of course.
