Well, the NRA got its wish -- and then it started fundraising to lobby for changing the law again because they magically figured out that their instant-check system led to backdoor registrations. (And their new changes that "prohibit" record retention don't really do shit, because all those records can still be retained for 30 days, during which time they all get backed up repeatedly.)

SAF/CCRKBA quit stealing 80% of donations for Gottlieb's corporate Corvette and Hong Kong suits for a year in order to set up a war room to fight that. SAF/CCRKBA won. The NRA showed up two weeks before the vote, took credit for the victory on the night of the election, and then walked off the stage to go back to drinking on K Street.
