NRA cowards have been running scared for a long time. They should be pushing campaigns to expand gun rights.

3
PinochetIsMyHero 3 points ago +3 / -0

They can't do that -- it might dry up fundraising over bad laws that they promise they'll do something to oppose.

just playing devils advocate here, and I could be wrong, but I imagine the reason why the NRA hasnt spoke on Kyle Rittenhouse is because of the potential legal issues involved.

Yes, we all know Kyle Rittenhouse acted in self defense, but, I would think the NRA is tryna keep its distance because of the whole "minor with a gun" argument, so the NRA is probably trying to distance itself from it so it doesn't appear that they condone "breaking the law" --it would give their opposition ammunition against them

I also agree "shall not be infringed" and the whole "minor with a gun" thing should be a moot point, but evidently, low iq goblin law makers are still tryna interpret what "shall not be infringed" means. Go figure.

I'm willing to give the NRA the benefit of the doubt. If Kyle was 18, and the NRA was still quiet, then I would raise my eyebrow.

NRA has a history. A Pede on this thread touched on some of their history.

I was giving them the benefit of the doubt in the 80s.

Their DISMAL track record instills no faith in them at all.

They still so some good on the education and organized matches front but as far as FIGHTING for our 2ndA? Not so much.

I'm a ElderPede. Been watching them for all these years.

Don't take my word for it. Research all the issues we as gun owners have had with them over the years. Look at how they spend their donations. Look at the lifestyle of board members.

Then make up your own mind.

I know where I stand and I am confident in my belief that they are more concerned about invites to K Street parties than they are about fighting for our rights!

I appreciate your feedback. The NRA was never really on my radar, even after I purchased my first firearm - and I never was a member or cared to be a member because I always thought it was more of a gun club; 2A enthusiasts rather than activists, or spokes people. I only ever gave the NRA a second look during the Obama admin. And then again after Dana Loesch called out CNN after the Parkland shooting because she was super spicy and has mass sex appeal.

but all, in all, I don't need a club, or an organization to teach me how to be a responsible gun owner, or defend my rights. I look gun safety and discipline as common sense; never aim your weapon at anything you aren't willing to shoot/kill -- and as far as defending your rights, i believe that is sealed the moment the clerk hands you the receipt.

Edit: You assume the obligation of defending your own rights upon purchasing a firearm.

What have they done for Kyle?

When's the last time they took a hard stand for the 2ndA?

They are not the NRA if 40 years ago.

Fuck them dry.

GOA is the way. They fight.

PinochetIsMyHero 3 points ago +3 / -0

They are not the NRA if 40 years ago.

LOL. 40 years ago the NRA was a bunch of fudds. It wasn't until Joe Foss left that they -- briefly -- started to pretend to stand for gun rights. Then they realized they could make a lot more money by selling fear than by actually stopping the infringements. "Send us money or your Airsoft guns are next!"

True but I didn't feel like mathing out how long ago 1960 was so I tossed out 40 years!

Wrong. The NRA has turned against us. They need to go extinct in place of something that serves us.

I didn't ask what their "essential functions" are .

I asked WHAT HAVE THEY DONE FOR KYLE?

"Nothing" is the answer. Not a god damned thing.

No words of condemnation against the ridiculous charges. No offer of legal support. No public support for him or his family.

From what I've been able to tell, their "essential functions" are much like UN Ambassadors.

Go to parties. Stay in swank hotels. Eat at fancy restaurants. Drink the finest spirits and bang high dollar whores ON SOMEONE ELSE'S DIME!

Don't try to defend them to me Bro. I still have a "Lifetime Membership" but they constantly beg for more of my money and don't do SHIT to protect my rights!

It's a fuckin slush fund for fuck ups now!

National Foundation for Gun Rights or the GOA all the way! Not another dime to pussies that won't fight!

The NRA has sucked since the 1980s. They do not represent what they claim to represent.

See my post here for why you should shut up.

Honey, this shit started over thirty years ago. I haven't sent a dime to them since the mid-1990s because they kept intentionally fucking things up.

Do you remember Congressman Roscoe Bartlett? NRA supported his incumbent Democrat opponent, who was pro-AWB, in the 1992 election. Because the polls showed a Dem victory and the NRA wanted to curry favor with that Dem opponent, who was "certain" to win.

Do you remember the Brady Act? NRA demanded to add the instant-check, despite every knowledgeable person screaming at them that this would lead to backdoor registration by computerizing all of the records. Well, the NRA got its wish -- and then it started fundraising to lobby for changing the law again because they magically figured out that their instant-check system led to backdoor registrations. (And their new changes that "prohibit" record retention don't really do shit, because all those records can still be retained for 30 days, during which time they all get backed up repeatedly.)

Do you remember Washington state's Initiative 676? SAF/CCRKBA quit stealing 80% of donations for Gottlieb's corporate Corvette and Hong Kong suits for a year in order to set up a war room to fight that. SAF/CCRKBA won. The NRA showed up two weeks before the vote, took credit for the victory on the night of the election, and then walked off the stage to go back to drinking on K Street.

Do you remember Georgia's state gunowners' attempt to pass constitutional carry? It was about to pass until the NRA sabotaged it at the last second, because it wasn't the NRA's bill and they didn't want some other group getting credit.

Do you remember when the NRA repeatedly trying to sabotage the Heller case? In fact, the reason it is the Heller decision rather than the Parker decision is because of the NRA getting four of the five plaintiffs, including Parker, thrown out of the action over standing issues. Then the NRA tried to get Orrin Hatch to take away D.C.'s gun regs through an act of Congress so that the entire case would be moot, just like NYRSPCA v. NYC earlier this year.

Do you remember when the NRA first tried to beat Gura/SAF to the state-incorporation lawsuit lottery, lost on that, and then forced its way into the McDonald case's Supreme Court arguments and wasted everyone's time on the already-binding-precedent arguments for incorporation that were already fully briefed by Gura, and then claimed that they were the only reason he won -- because the low-information retards who don't know anything about oral arguments gave them credit for the "winning argument" even though those were already fully argued by Gura?

And do you remember when the NRA cost Trump major support from the gun rights community by pushing him to ban bumpstocks in the wake of the Las Vegas mass shooting, so that the issue would be diffused in the media and the big push for even more gun control wouldn't happen? I know people who STILL are refusing to vote for Trump this year because "he promised he would help us and he stabbed us in the back!" Even though it was the NRA who advised him to do this.

It's the low-information "Rah-Rah I'm the NRA!" types who are the primary threat to gun rights in this country, because they keep giving the NRA total control to ruin everything in the name of raising more funds for Waynes shopping trips.

PREACH BROTHER!

I'd forgotten about all the details on WHY they suck so much ass!

Thanks for that trip down memory lane!
