Allowing particle emissions shoots down the theory of containing or protecting infected particles, but if COVID is spread by aerosol particles then we should see some relation between mask use and infection rate.

It doesn't get into it, but yes it's possible it increases spread unless you're wearing the proper high end masks (which nobody is).
