Yup. All she had to do was buy a cheap house, pay off a cheap and reliable car, and invest the rest. She only got 12 million and this alone covers about 10% of it.

18
AngryAsian 18 points ago +18 / -0

What do you want to bet she'll OWE taxes in like 5 months and then start screaming about racism and do the whole talk show circuit again.

11
rockaustin 11 points ago +11 / -0

I mean, I’d at least buy a Dodge Challenger scat pack. I wouldn’t go THAT cheap. I’d spend a large amount on rental properties and land and sit on the rest.

5

Rental properties and land definitely count as an investment. Pretty good ones, IMO.

Christ Almighty, GET A MORTGAGE and DO NOT PAY FOR YOUR HOUSE IN LUMP. Now you have the growing equity to play bankers' games with. Now you have a nice credit rating. Now you can do cool stuff at tax time. And that money you didn't plunk down can be invested elsewhere to make more money.

11
fazaman 11 points ago +11 / -0

Hell, she could have just put the money in an online bank account and earned a measly 1%, netting her $120000 a year with virtually no risk or effort. Then she can spend her time learning to invest properly and her family could dig itself out of the hole that likely led to her daughter's illegal activities. Future generations would benefit, it would all be good.

Nope. She'll be broke again in no time flat

JoeJimGregory 9 points ago +9 / -0

The problem in this country isn’t racism, it’s a lack of basic financial education.

TYPICAL $ grab. They are like fentanyl Floyd’s ex. She had not seen the criminal in 6 years. She cried like a newborn baby. Big old salty tears as she waited for that payout. The taxpayers of those cities get robbed again. Where’s the millions for my POW great uncle. He was imprisoned for 18 months in Italy after being shot down in WWII. My other uncle that died serving our country. They rcvd NOTHING. Their families rcvd NOTHING. So choke on your millions bitches. I’m tired of these illicit payouts for drug addled felons. F you SJWs

32
TrumpsWall 32 points ago +32 / -0

Starting to reach new levels of angry. Btw, my two great grandfathers served in ww1 and my two grandfathers ww2, 3 of them were never the same mentally, especially my grandfather who was in ww2 in the South Pacific fighting the Japs as a Marine. They didn’t have a name for PSTD then, they just called it a “nervous” condition. Of course being raised by him was not fun for my dad and his brothers. He died poor as shit.

18
Patriot4ever2020plus 18 points ago +18 / -0

Exactly. My great uncle was a wasted life. He was so mentally and physically beat down. Grew up with my dad on a farm then went to hell and my dad said he never knew him afterwards. Totally blank and vacant. Weighed like 90 lbs when he came home. 3 of his brothers served also. They were ok but still, as you say, nervous. Another one I never met had what my dad called shell shock. Totally whacked out. You must be proud of your lineage.

2
stratocaster_patriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

One thing poor people fail to understand is the upkeep and maintenance on all the expensive shit they buy. They don't put that in the calculation. It's why I've always though that game shows that give away cars and stuff were doing people a disservice. Often people are poor because they are really stupid and don't understand how things work.

2
DeplorableLA 2 points ago +2 / -0

Great point. And the insurance on a Bentley cannot be cheap.

28
nsulltan 28 points ago +28 / -0

Holy shit, if this is true it really speaks to my theory that to ensure the American dream is to pass what you have to the next generation not squander it. I hope she enjoys her now worthless car and a home that will require at minimum 20k a year to maintain.

I didn’t say hand them a stack of cash, that is what happened with my grandfather and he gambled it away. My grandmother instilled the system of hard work in my father and him in me and me in my kids but we all leave something for our next kin not a pile of debt and useless shit.

15
GeneticsGuy 15 points ago +15 / -0

Ya, people don't realize that owning your home is a lot more than paying your mortgage. There's ALWAYS problems that creep up. There's always a leak, a broken appliance, maintenance, HVAC work, or whatever to be done. At least every other year something major and expensive is going to happen in your home.

It doesn't matter if this is a 30 years old home or one that's 5 years old. They ALWAYS have things that pop up and so you basically have to make sure you have some savings to deal with the problems or else you might be left hanging.

Honestly though, buying a Bentley on donation money is just insulting to people who donated. Pretty typical. She's acting like a lottery winner. Disgusting, really.

Broke within 3 years. Bentley is the classic sign of living beyond your means.

I know someone who actually did win $4 million in the state lottery and actually wisely planned it out what to do with the money. He took a lump-sum and paid all the taxes then he invested the entire amount into an S&P 500 index fund. He is now retired and lives off the dividends which is something like 50k/year. He won this like 5 years ago and I think the current value is something like $5-$6 million because the value of the s&p 500 has gone up since then.

5
deleted 5 points ago +5 / -0
3
JoeJimGregory 3 points ago +3 / -0

This. With a lump sum like that you can afford to pay others to manage your money. Just set it and forget it, you’re out of the rat race and can follow your own pursuits. Hell if you’re smart about it you don’t even need that much of a principal.

2
james43552352345 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yup exactly. You invest the money and then every 3 months the fund pays a dividend in cash of 10-20k.Then you simply budget that and you never have to work another day in your life.

2
stratocaster_patriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

Who wants to bet she moves to the suburbs and gets as far away from her "community" as possible? They all do it. Someone's suburb just got a lot shittier and the crime rate just went up 100%.

2
james43552352345 2 points ago +2 / -0

Voice of reason:

  • $800K for a House means she’s getting out of the hood and it’s actually a solid investment. She can probably sell it for a million soon in the right neighborhood. Leaving it in cash would be retarded.

  • Kids don’t tell parents they quit their jobs to be gangsters/drug dealers. She probably never told mom that she lost her EMT job, especially because then she doesn’t have to explain the money

  • Mom probably actually thought she was innocent

  • Mom isn’t responsible for riots

  • The Bentley is a disgrace. Totally makes her look like just another Ghetto Lottery winner.

She’ll be house-poor in less than a decade but will probably be fine.

6
skyhawk 6 points ago +6 / -0

A real voice of reason would be telling her to not only invest that money in real-estate but also in stocks/mutual funds/bonds/precious metals. Even someone who doesn't know much about wealth management could turn that $12 million into $16-18 million in less than a decade. But I gotta keep it real and live my best life going straight up un-hunned (100) so I decide to be a total retard and spend almost a million on a Bentley.

1

If she's dumb enough to blow through almost a million that fast trust me, the rest will be gone very soon. This tweet didn't even say what else she already spent money on, or what friends/family came crawling out of the woodwork to try and mooch off the family. Just give it time and it'll all be gone.

Have you looked at real estate prices in Louisville? She could have been more than comfortable for half the price. I’d like to think she’s just trying to move up in the world and maybe she is but she’s doing it wrong and will likely lose it all. I don’t entirely blame her though, probably has no experience managing that kind of money and no one to model her choices after except others that “made it big”

0
Dimocrat_Lies 0 points ago +1 / -1

There would also be nothing wrong with buying a far more expensive house because she can sell it later.

2
JoeJimGregory 2 points ago +2 / -0

She’s going to have a bad time when the property taxes come due. It’s not a matter of sticker price, it’s the cash flow ratio she needs to worry about. Big expensive houses have big roofs that will need replacing, big heating and cooling bills, nice appliances that need repairs from from their specialty dealers, big lawns that you need help to take care of. If she doesn’t invest the rest of the money very carefully so she has a sizeable income and enough set aside for surprise bills she’ll be bled dry.

1
JoeJimGregory 1 point ago +1 / -0

No, the mistake we’re making is giving in to that attitude. Thankfully we still have the foresight to not go full ethnonationalist for now. We need to get back to leading by example and calling out the bullshit racists hiding under the newspeak title “anti racist”. America is a nation not a race.

You’ve got it backwards fren, racism is the primitive stone age weapon. It limits you to a tiny group of people that resemble you. Nationalism is the industrial age weapon of war that allows you to crush your ignorant enemies with the might of an army united by a virtuous cause and a loyalty to their country and God.

JoeJimGregory 1 point ago +1 / -0

That’s one definition and it’s a fairly archaic one. It suffers from the problem of defining the point at which a nation forms. How distinct does each of those characteristics have to be before you can categorize something as a nation?
