Meh, had an argument with the sister. About Antifa/BLM primarily, the discussion started with me asking her what she thought of the death penalty. She's against it mostly. I'm for it, mostly. She brings up how she went to college for a degree in criminal justice. I bring up how i've seen plenty of videos and articles about antifa/blm, and how they're criminals with long rap sheets, etc. She tells me i've been watching deepfakes and reading propaganda (presumably from Russia, though she never actually specified that). She basically parrots a lot of the same talking points of Democrats and RINOs, and doesn't even realize she is (she gets mad that i group her with democrats/rinos, though i only said she parrots them, which she was). If i bring up how communists have infiltrated the education system (amongst other systems), she gets extremely offended and accuses me of being uncivil and rude. Then she reminds me that she paid a lot of money and spent a lot of time in college learning her opinions, and implies that i don't know how to read the FBI statistics on crime by race. "Blacks don't actually commit more crime, cops just choose to arrest more blacks because reasons." These are all arguments i've considered earlier in my thought process and thrown out. And I didn't even need to go to college for it, though i'll admit she does make a ton of money repeating her opinions (wrong or otherwise).

Do college degrees automatically make a person impossible to disagree with? Are non-college degrees automatically wrong? I'm truly curious what the protocol is here. Am I supposed to just believe everything she says because she makes more?

Or was she in the wrong? Thanks for reading my blog

Gonna be up to the old silent gen, old boomers, half the millenials, and a quarter of zoomers to save America at this stage.

Pray to god.

Put yourself in her shoes - if she admits that you’re right then she also has to admit that she’s wasted a bucketload of time and money getting her degree. She’s got a lot invested in thinking that degree makes her smarter than you or even “better” than you, she’s not going to give it up.

Just press her on the facts, her degree is irrelevant. I can’t remember who did it but someone’s done the research on the perceived race of the offender (as described by the victim) vs races of people arrested, the data proves that the right people are getting arrested. And I mean really, for anyone to think that the discrepancy in arrest rates for murder to be purely from cops refusing to arrest white people is simply crazy. Anyway, if she thinks that then the onus is on her to prove it - don’t let her get away with “cos reasons”.

College degrees are granted by Marxist institutions to make dumb people with zero critical thinking skills think they're smarter than they actually are.

They condition the weak willed to put emotions first even when facts prove them wrong

Did she make out with chicks in college?

Oh I thought of another one - ask her if the over-representation of men in violent crime arrest stats is proof that police are sexist against men and just refusing to arrest all the violent women.

lol you should use her own logic against her.

" Blacks don't actually commit more crime, cops just choose to arrest more blacks because reasons."

"I went to school for criminal justice."

You should say "so you went to get a degree in criminal justice because you want to arrest black people for....reasons?"

Stop talking to your sister. She is protecting her abortions.

You're dealing with a low information person. She was pumped full of propaganda and given a road to make money by following their rules. Unless she has an open mind, she will never agree with anything that risks losing her paycheck. That's how the fascists win. The fascists don't care about money, they have more than Trump. They care about power. They own the universities, the main-stream media, the DNC, WHO, ... goes on and on. They want minions to help them take over the USA. No hyperbole here. I'm a science major from many moons ago.

cucumbersandwich 3 points ago +3 / -0

She spent how much to become indoctrinated? Now she has to work for them to earn it back. The fascists are laughing. Even when she's debt free, she'll still be paid nothing in their eyes for the service she is performing.

As a professional, I’ve met a lot of somewhat intelligent to genius level people who are great at their job/profession but who can’t handle intelligent discussion/debate; often in their own field and especially anything else. They don’t need to. They trust the tv and their favorite talking heads to inform them honestly with great detail and accuracy. Therefore you’re beneath them and their “learned opinions” as you put it.

I’ve had a doctor literally turn into a kindergartner because I tried to debate/discuss with them about a topic. They literally employed child like tactics to end the conversation and it was not even heated. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised this individual loves yearly vacations to Disneyworld, yet has and takes no children with them.

I frequently tell conservative people who aren’t up for real debate/time investment to stop arguing with family/neighbors/friends who are liberal or never trumpers. You’re not arguing with someone with a carefully crafted and nuanced opinion who can consider and discuss points of view, you’re arguing with the tv. Pick your battles with people who are actually open to discussion and consideration.

Maybe your sister has a case against her college and can get her full tuition money back. The college clearly didn’t deliver what they promised, if she can’t even read the FBI stats correctly.

Tell your sister she should look up just four stats before she embarrasses herself further in discussions with you:

  • % of blacks in overall population
  • crime rate blacks in overall crimes
  • % black on black vs. black on white vs. white on black
  • Police shooting white vs police shooting black

The first two numbers are important because these numbers explain why blacks are more likely to be involved in policy activity.

The third numbers should tell her that most crimes are committed within the own race group. But when considering interracial crime, the numbers are giving a very clear picture: whites are way more likely to be victims of black crime compared to the other way around.

The last one is tricky, kind of an IQ test for your sister, when she is done digging up the stats for bullet #4: Can she relate these numbers with the answers from bullet item #2?

The statistics are very clear: Blacks commit proportional way more crimes than whites, therefore have more police encounters but are still shot proportionally less often than whites by LEO.

We shouldn’t draw the wrong/racially charged conclusions from these very clear numbers either: Blacks grow up disproportionally often without fathers. They live disproportionally more likely in poorer neighbourhoods, which correlate with higher crime rates.

This is why the BLM agenda is so awfully destructive for the black community: Defunding the police is madness that will increase crime in poorer areas. Disrupting the nuclear family... I’m not sure if we have to spell out, how crazy this is.

Don’t be harsh to your sister. She is ideological indoctrinated. Ask her calmly to dig up the facts herself. If she is unwilling or unable to do so, then there is no reason why she should feel superior because of her expensive degree. Quite the opposite: Her money didn’t pay knowledge or common sense. What a waste!

College is for smart people. I went to college. Therefore I am smart.

6% of the population commit almost half of violent crimes. I don't understand how you can even argue that police just arrest more black people just because reasons

If she has a degree in criminal justice and thinks all the BLM/Antifa riot videos are deep fakes and people crying about their businesses lost, family and friends killed in the riots are all deep fakes, then sorry to say but you have a retarded sister who shouldn't reproduce.

Show her some very emotional video of elders crying because they can't go grocery shopping because the closest stores have been burnt down. Show it to her and ask if it's a deep fake.

Getting a college degree doesn’t mean the person is right all the time. I graduated from one in bioengineering, and I admit I can be wrong about things relating to my field. And I have no problem with being called out about it.

It honestly is about character. I learned that the hard way. But if you can’t take criticism or being wrong, then how can you grow as a person? And maybe this is something you can address to your sister. It isn’t about someone being right and having the credentials. It’s about being open minded and learning from each other to be more informed.

Do college degrees automatically make a person impossible to disagree with?

No, that's an appeal to authority fallacy. Unless she is a qualified expert speaking in her field(and unless she's a data statistician, she is out of her field here), her opinion carries no more weight than any random person you pull off the street.

and implies that i don't know how to read the FBI statistics on crime by race. "Blacks don't actually commit more crime, cops just choose to arrest more blacks because reasons."

Your sister is being stupid. Or to put it more correctly, she is being intellectually disonest. She is trying to contort the data into the opposite of what it actually says, because what it actually says goes against her skewed political worldview.

Black commit more crime. Across all wealth and poverty levels, what's more. They are arrested more often because they are more often perpetrators. If whites committed as much crime per capita as blacks do, places like Appalachia would be a warzone. And they quite simply aren't.

Furthermore, when black crime is adjusted out of United States crime data, the average rate of violent AND nonviolent crime adjusts to lower than that of most of Europe. Making it abundantly clear who the problem is.

This isn't some grand conspiracy, the simplest answer here is the correct one.

Black people make up 13% of the population. Black men make up about 6% of the population. Black men who are neither too young nor too old to be out committing violent crimes make up an even smaller amount of the population. That leaves, what, like 12-15 million black men of appropriate age compared to 70-75 million white men in the same age group.

I get that she thinks the cops are racist but are they arresting every single black man they meet? How are they arresting large enough numbers from such a small population such that they outpace their white counterparts? Does she think every police department and court system in the country is in on some massive conspiracy? Because that's what it'd take to pull off a scam like that.

To be fair, I don't think race is really the casual factor here. I think we have an inner-city crime problem and black people just happen to live in the inner-cities in greater proportions. Poor white people have their own problems but they tend to occupy areas that are less densely populated and therefore don't have the same tendency for gang affiliation or street violence.

You are not wrong . Only it's easy to make more money out of fools, by being a fool in the club. It's harder to stand on principles and truth .. This you can see throughout history , only the sane and wise have been persecuted the most .. Hey but then you gain your integrity and don't lose your soul by being yourself .

OU CANT GO HEAD TO HEAD WITH HER ABOUT PERSONAL BELIEFS. YOU WILL LOSE IF SHE ITS DUMB. INSTEAD APROACH THE DISCUSION ABOUT A TOPIC THAT YOU KNOW ABOUT . FBI CRIME STAS ARE A GOOD POINT , BUT AGAIN DONT START A CONVO WIT HAN OPINION THAT IS POLARIZING. i THINK OF THE DEATH PENALTY LIKE I DO ABORTION. RARE AND IN ONLY THE MOST EXTREME CASES. bUT I WOULD NEVER START A CONVO WITH A FEMINIST AND SAY I THOUGHT ABORTION WAS WRONG AND SHE WASNT RIGHT TO THINK IT WASNT MURDER. JUST STICK TO THE FACTS... THAT'S WHAT SHE KNOWS, THAT'S WHAT SHE NEEDS TO DEFEND. POLICE RACISM... KNOW THE STUDIES THAT SHOW NO CORELATION. KNOW HOW MANY DEATHS PER YEAR UNARMED , STICK TO THE FACTS AND HER DEGREE DONT MEAN JACK IF SHE CANT DEFEND HER POINT. ALSO ASK HER ABOUT WHAT POINTS SHE DISAGREED WITH ABOUT HER PROFFESSORS AND SHE WILL LEARN SHE IS JUST A MOUTH PEICE FOR THE SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM NEEDS MOUTHPEICES THOUGH AND GOOD ON HER FOR SNAGGING THE PURSE.
