The problem with a valued added tax is we'll never get a rip and replace of income tax, they'll just stick us with the VAT as well. I was shocked when I looked up what Europeans pay in taxes. Unless I read it wrong, in Germany my income tax rate would be 42%, with a 19% VAT on top of it. But their healthcare is free amirite?
Yeah. Leftists go on and on about "muh free healthcare", but if you're losing 60% of your income to taxes every year, you could have just afforded regular healthcare anyway. The only people it truly helps are the destitute as they don't pay for healthcare AND pay nothing into taxes.
The same people that talk about how Obamacare was supposed to provide Healthcare to those that don't have it. Hey, good for them, I went from actually having good insurance to a piece of shit high deductible plan, thanks a lot. The term no free lunch is foreign to them. I didn't even start on the price of gas in some of those countries, upwards of $6 a gallon while I'm paying less than $2. They are paying over $3 per gallon in taxes alone, not including the 19% VAT tax. It would cost me $95 to fill my cars gas tank in Germany, and almost $70 of that would be pure taxes. It sounds so absurd to type out i have to be wrong.
