Actually, they are using the "wheel." If this is what I think it is, I've seen this first-hand in the deserts of northern Kenya. Those "barrels" are full of water and they are too heavy to carry, so they roll them to their villages. Sucks to think that this is all the water they'll have for a few days. But, you know, it really is the US that needs transformation! s/
