Thank you for posting this, I now understand why Somalis can't function properly in western countries and why the Somali system works for Somalis. It's actually a great system (for cultures with very strict clan affiliations and loyalty). The problem is decentralized governments are unable to effectively defend themselves from outside threats like the UN.

Don’t forget though, they’re rich in some valuable natural resources. And China is building infrastructure for them and giving aid.
