In the beginning, I thought Trump will be just another useless politician just like 0bama (I voted for Trump in '16 to piss off the SJWs). Then all of the peace-making and economic opportunities comes rolling in, which changed my mind and made me board the Trump train completely.
I truly think he deserves the Peace Prize, much more than 0bama.
I'm in a similar train. I liked what he was saying, but he had not done anything. I hated Hillary. Now, he's done good things. Substance over style. All aboard the Trump train!

I had listened to Trump going at it for years with Hannity and others about the wars so I had sincere hopes he would be able to do something. I didn't think it was likely considering what he was up against. If you've been paying attention, you'll know there are trillions of dollars at stake and an entrenched deep state.
Consider that the Army's UCP camouflage cost the taxpayer $5B in testing, development and deployment and it was replaced in +/- 10 years. Consider all of the equipment that we paid for, we're leaving over there. Sure, some of that equipment includes Humvees, and it's a fitting death but that's money taxpayers spent to buy it. Why can't we sell them for scrap to the highest bidder over there instead of giving them away? There are ship breakers in India, why not Humvee Breakers in Iraq? New industry. Better yet, rent one of those giant machines that chew up vehicles and ship the humvees back in a bulk carrier and let US manufacturers bid on the scrap.

No, thank you for your servixe. We need to be frequently reminded of wasteful mistakes to remember why we all need to be conservative. Money, especially tax payer money, doesn't grow from tree.
Because I think it's best we have a clean breakup with the middle east. Trying to find excuses to continue being there is not what we need.
As for what is being left there, it's not really worth all the time and money to bring stuff like Humvees back especially since they've spent over a decade in a desert environment that is incredibly hard on vehicles.
Oh... and the Humvee is being replaced with the JLTV
I'm aware that the humvee is being replaced. I just can't fathom why we can't just scrap them there and sell the scrap. In many cases, we're just giving them to foreign governments.
Scrap? The economics is there to put them in shipping containers and ship them back to the states and sell them AS-IS for a healthy profit. Add in the customizers who will focus on making them "road legal" and it's a further boost to the economy. Literally win-win-win.
Certainly scrap is the next best idea, and I completely agree that the absolute worst idea is just gifting them away as trash. Fuck that static.
I didn't really do any economic estimate of bringing all of them back but yes, there is a sizeable desire in the US for military vehicles that are road legal. I have heard there are guys that are taking Duramax diesels and putting them in humvees and making them daily drivers. Instead of 10 mpg, they're now getting 16-20. Which still kind of sucks but better than 10 or whatever ridiculous number it is. (I've read as high as 12 for the standard ones, far less for up-armored ones)
You could go to the middle of Compton, pick out any random gang member, and they would be more deserving of the Nobel than 0bama.

I didn't really like Trump but I thought I could see why people were voting for him as a spoiler in response to the nonsense the GOP had been getting up to. But he's proven to be very capable and Scott Adams turned me around on his public persona.
