to be honest windows 10 is just garbage. the only ways i even find the OS usable now is in the EDU or enterprise editions -- and even there it leaves a lot to be desired for me in terms of control and design. the thing is just built to be controlled remotely and not give you 100% control even with full control of group policy options and knowing what you're doing entirely.
I use it sometimes, but only for software I need to. and when I do, ive basically crippled and hacked the OS into oblivion.
At this point, "advancement" for OS is a bad thing. linux/BSD are tops for operating systems really now. the only problems are the consumery uses outside of gaming.
Gaming on it works surprisingly well, wine has come a long way in 20 years and the drivers do work well for it -- the problem with consumery normal uses (web browsing, hardware acceleration usage outside of games with graphics) is that there is no standard unified graphics API so companies like Nvidia keep trying to push "their way" of doing things which developers will never support (because that would mean like having 3 separate concurrent builds with different codepaths being maintained and would turn into a massive mess)
so you run into things like choppy web scrolling and relying on CPU software decoding for a lot of things. There are SOME things you can do about it (like compile chromium with a secret flag that tells it its on chromeOS not linux or BSD) at which point you can force-enable some acceleration and smooth out the scrolling a bit and get some hardware decoded video streaming (with the possibility of a few hardware GPU lockups because your basically feeding one API into another into another in order to do that)
but it reacts and works like a real fucking OS that assumes I know what the fuck im doing and dont want my machine remotely managed by someone else.
I realize what im saying is very unpopular to businesses -- that I dont want tabletized, over-monetized platforms and want to stay stuck in the past where they had reached market caps, but its true. thats what I want.
In my eyes, data collection, controlled app stores, all that shit is absolutely evil and a deal-breaker. we were better off purchasing lifetime licenses of software for X-devices (software as a product) than having software as a service.
I might be a little more lenient if it wasnt all about marketplace control, gambling law loopholes, spying, and had the same kinds of guarantees industrial SAAS has.
but those things would unfortunately remove the profit motive and stick these businesses with strict market caps probably requiring them to raise the prices of phones to around $3000 a phone or more if they wanted to make nearly the same money.
when the day comes I can no longer build desktops out of generic parts and use open source operating systems that are freely and fully programmable at a low level (C, ASM), I no longer will use computers at all and will never buy another computing device again.

A fine touché to a fine rant. I like to play with new things for a bit but all serious investment in hardware is capped off around ~2010 and geared towards post-apocalypse usefulness. Aside from Linux, only recently migrated from XP to W7/64 and reject anything that does not support it. If the S hits the F I want my heirs to be able to assemble and reassemble from parts on hand into a series of functional machines that could last for decades, even beyond if other parts are gathered quickly and preserved properly. With a side interest in small board computers if they run older software yet also run cooler.
World War 3 with Iran? As a matter of fact, Iran has already been fighting proxy wars in multiple countries for years! The conflict between sonnis and Shiites is far greater than the conflict between Arabs and Jews. Trump sees that and he takes the opportunity to make peace between Israel and Arab countries.
I emailed my libtard friend on his birthday. He replied with a thanks and this gem :
"I hope I get to Canada before Trump starts World War 3 with Iran"
😂😂😂
Libtards come in different shapes and sizes, but they all are packed with the same copy of Windows 95 installed in their brains.
You sure it's not Microsoft Bob? I mean, even 95 is an actual OS, whatever what one may think about the quality.
Quality was good enough, just compared to standards 25 years later it doesn't seem like it.

Use Pop OS. It comes with Nvidia drivers in-built (if you have an Nvidia Gpu) and is great for everything, including gaming.
Windows 10 is anal cancer. I hate the bloody thing.
