Probably because their typical followup is, "takes one to know one"
I always found that ironic considering they go out of their way to start the conversation with the accusation.
Lately, I've noticed a trend where they simply say "are you for real?" and other such buzzphrases that completely lack substance. They don't even have a subject, just directionless questions implying that they "know all" and you "know none."
