It was a realtor who may have been in on it but has a solid alibi showing a house for sale two doors down

So perhaps the realtor is just there and crazy wife comes running over all hyper telling lies. Enough to get the realtor to make the 911 call repeating what he/she was told. Easy enough to get a participant to repeat a lie.

Similar situation... You stop on a street in downtown New York and start staring up at a building. Before long, others stop and start looking up as well. Some people will start pointing. If someone asks what you are looking at you just say, "We think the building is on fire". Then walk away. The whole crowd starts to believe and repeat the lie. People in the crowd are pointing and making speculation. There's no fire... not even a hint of smoke. But it doesn't matter. It's easy to manipulate others.

Yes I think this is the case. If not planned before by the wofe then she hyped up the wife into making the phone call and the rest snowballed into barricaded gunmen wife beater

Yep! You make the bystander feel they are also in danger, then they are now invested in the situation. Fight or flight kicks in and they either run or call and try to help.

What would you do? A lady runs up to you screaming something like, "Help me! He's going to kill me! He has a gun and... blah blah blah" What would most people do in this situation?

Maybe wife was cheating with said Realtor. Maybe Brad found out and went nuts.

Wouldn't blame him one bit.
