and almost no one is convinced by debates anyway.

This is why we need the Rogan debate so bad. Rogan is really good at asking good questions to both people he agrees with and those he disagrees with. He's the type of left-leaning moderate that most people identify as these days, and 4 hours would be enough time to really see who both of these men are.

I think Rogan is particularly well suited to this regardless, but it’s your last point that is the most important imo. The prevailing notion was always that We The Idiot People have extremely short attention spans, so technology catered to this accordingly.

In reality, people will absolutely devour shit they are interested in — and podcasts like Rogan’s prove how long our collective attention can be kept and therefore how totally obsolete modern televised programming is.

It’s part of why we all rage at these CNN “expert panels,” shows like The View, and especially these debates — the issues that define our times are complicated and (surprisingly!) can’t be reduced to a fucking sixty second soliloquy. Something like a Rogan podcast would allow them to, oh I don’t know, actually TALK to each other??? — but God fucking forbid anything like that ever happens.

All people ever want to do is to see and be seen. Politics is no different.
