Nah. Noem never locked down at all. THAT'S how you earn the title of best governor.

Everyone else is just competing for second best at this point.

Yeah, this.

Being literally the only Governor in the country who didn't drink the Kool-aide in some capacity deserves acknowledgement.

Bold female governor stands up to every other governor, the WHO, the UN, China, every media outlet, House, Senate and President, all Presidential candidates, basically the entire world.

Absolute Crickets. Because they don't care one bit about women's rights or feminism, they literally don't want anything other than their own bizarre agenda.

Only true American leader in high elected office who trusted that free people could decide how to think and live for themselves when faced with the sniffles.

Like, with her mental powers she could conjure one up our of thin air? Or do you mean she will leave an unknown one to America in her last will and testament?

No way! Give me California any day!

I grew up in Montana. South Dakota is fine for 30 or so miles in the west, then its pretty bleak, unless pancake flat and dusty is your thing. I do love that governor though 😍

8
BloodElfSupporter 8 points ago +8 / -0

I grew up on the west coast. Have never been to the Midwest or the Dakotas. Used to be a liberal (but patriotic!) until recently when I walked away. Definitely considering moving to a conservative town when I finish my education. I wish we had a governor like her here.

The midwest is beautiful, outside of the cities; especially the farmland. Remember, don't try to pass farm equipment on the backroads, just be patient and wait until they turn off into a field or farm.

2
RoosterRaiser 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you like beautiful country side, all 4 seasons and freedom - check out Missouri. We are overlooked because we don't' make much news, but life is good here. #1 selling point - our gun freedom is better than Texas. Conceal carry without a permit, guns are bought & sold privately with no b.s. background check. There is tons to do outside with a world renowned Conservation agency who maintain beautiful parks & wildlife. Life is peaceful here, unless you are in St. Louis or downtown KC - avoid those areas.

Always move rural; never to a city. Cities are where your soul goes to die...and perhaps your physical body as well.

Cities are in for some shit in the future - I foresee them all going the way of Detroit as people flee commie governance.

13
BranchCovidian 13 points ago +14 / -1

Cities are where your soul goes to die...and perhaps your physical body as well.

They're really only bad if there's a high level of die-worsity. That's what causes people to turtle up and be less inclined to make social connections, plus most kinds of die-worsity bring crime, drugs, social problems, and people that hate the Founding Stock of America.

6
Modus_Pwninz 6 points ago +6 / -0

Aren't pretty much all cities breeding grounds for that kinda' shit? I dunno, I lived in Minneapolis aka New Mogadishu and it was a dumpster.

3

Lots get trapped in cold places because they can't afford to move, like the Somalis 0bama put in Maine.

2
BeefSupreme54 2 points ago +2 / -0

Maine did that to themselves with the extra benefits they offered. All for the sake of muh diversity. Cumberland County ruined the state for all of us.

It sounds like the North Pole might be the perfect place for you. How about Alaska instead? I hear there is zero crime in Alaska because it's cold out side.

9
mateus 9 points ago +9 / -0

That's like saying there's no crime in the winter. Alaska may have a low crime rate (for reasons other than climate), but it's not ZERO. Plus, I know they had at least one serial killer.

3
Trump2k20 3 points ago +3 / -0

I agree.

2
TrumpsWall 2 points ago +2 / -0

I live in Alaska. I think per capita we have a pretty high murder rate. Granted that’s mostly in Anchorage where half the population lives. Also, there’s more men then women because it’s a resource based economy. Anchorage is actually pretty sketchy in areas. Lots of pipeline workers, loggers, fishermen, miners, etc. Lots of strip clubs and bars. I think Ketchikan had the most bars per capita for awhile. Anyway, these guys tend to be armed, and enjoy a good rumble. Plus this state is where a lot of criminals come to hide.

I'm taking pride in Brian Kemp. The data at the time said this shit was dangerous, just not as dangerous as they were making it out to be, and Kemp shut things down for two weeks, as recommended by Trump, and then opened up after the two weeks were over and never looked back because he knew and said clearly that we were never going to get rid of it but our infrastructure could handle it now so it was time to get back to work. The left tried to destroy him for it and he told them to pound sand.

Hell, the teachers in the state are still trying to crucify him for it.

Noem did what was right for a state with the population density and distribution of SD, and people like Kemp and DeSantis did what was right for their respective states and wouldn't be bullied by anyone.

4
FabsMagicHat 4 points ago +4 / -0

I’ve become a big fan of Kemp and he’s definitely up there with the rest as one of the best. I can’t imagine how awful it would be if Abrams would’ve been able to steal the election.

3
seaside_dreams 3 points ago +3 / -0

Damn right!

Kemp was straight on the money. My county doesn't have any of that nonsense. Lots of individual cities and counties but absolutely no state mandate.

2

16
Snipthetipandsip 16 points ago +16 / -0

Population size might of had something to do with it. Also Florida has a lot of Blue ran counties. Politics is a game, and DeSantis played it swimmingly through all this.

4
Modus_Pwninz 4 points ago +4 / -0

"aS YoU'vE ChOsEn To IgNoRE"

Or didn't see anyone making the argument, which is probably based on technicality and not facts. Go on, tell me how restricting isn't a shutdown and thus it's okay. Go ahead.

2
mateus 2 points ago +2 / -0

Are you okay?

Beyond that, I'll just say that there have been lock downs, house arrest (stay-at-home) orders, and mask mandates, each of which DeSantis ordered at one point or another, while some other governors didn't.

1
Modus_Pwninz 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm fine, thanks fren.

Which governor's have not mandated any of these things? As I said, I've not seen information on any others that haven't at least shut down certain businesses, which is a shutdown. You don't have to be as tyrannical as Newsom of CA to have implimented tyranny.

I'm only aware of Noem of SD who did none of them.

1
mateus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well, of course shutting down businesses is a shutdown and, yes, you're right--that's tyrannical.

I'm just saying that I remember other governors not requiring people to stay at home, not requiring masks, and not banning nursing home visits.

Look, I like DeSantis all day long, especially since we've got Cuomo (Tony Soprano with hair). I just made an observation that there have been other governors who didn't buy into all of these restrictions hook, line, and sinker.

1
Modus_Pwninz 1 point ago +1 / -0

I gotcha'. I don't think they bought it to the extent that dem governors did, no. But buying it at all was pretty gay.

I'm not much better off with Walz the under-the-radar nursing home killer.

5
MerlynTrump 5 points ago +5 / -0

Reminds me of when only a few governors (among them Perry and Palin) refused to partake in "Race to the Top" but years later many of the states that went in wanted to get out.

73

To be fair there are more people living in south Jacksonville than are in the entire state of South Dakota. Florida has four major US cities and 22 million people, SD has no major cities and .8M. DeSantis and Noem aren't playing the same game.

19
JuicyfearsMAGA 19 points ago +19 / -0

Your point is still accurate, compare Florida's population to both fucking Dakota's. More illegal immigrants in Florida than people in both Dakota's combined.

Desantis has done well, as has Noem. I think she's done better, but Florida is not as easy to govorn.

8
hilboggins 8 points ago +8 / -0

Florida is a fkin ridiculous state to Govern. There's a crazy mixed population of native Floridians who been around since it was the wild wild west, you have a huge cuban population around miami, all the big farms and small industrial towns are filled with mexicans, then all the university transplant kids, we have black ghettos in like every big democrat city, the retirees from blue states, the snow birds from blue states, the native transplants from blue states, the immigrants who went to NY, became blue, found it too cold and moved to FL, ANNNND the international tourism.

5
JuicyfearsMAGA 5 points ago +5 / -0

All those northeasterners who are liberal af and Florida is still somehow a red state, and it needs to stay that way!!

16
kekNation 16 points ago +16 / -0

All great points. Plus huge immigrant population and massive international airport hubs and cruise ships.

Also huge elderly populations.

Not even the same game.

But I still love her and she’s one of my top picks to be on a 2024 ticket.

7
AngryDonut [S] 7 points ago +7 / -0

I love her too. I'd love to see her in the white house 100%.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

What happens to SD if Noem leaves?

1
kekNation 1 point ago +1 / -0

You mean SD?

She isn’t leaving anytime soon. SD will be fine. The bigger concern is all the people moving to these states from CA and NYC.

Those idiots are get to a great state and then start voting to turn it into the same shit hole they fled.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

I mean if she gets elected in 2024 SD will be out their Governor. They'd need a good replacement

1
kekNation 1 point ago +1 / -0

A good replacement for a state of 800,000 people is less difficult than a good replacement for a country if ~350 million people.

1
CuomoisaMassMurderer 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'd agree with that. That doesn't guarantee SD doesn't go to shit if she wins in 2024. Apparently they've got a shortage in other areas of government, too.

I know nothing about FL but there are a lot more people to draw from.

6
Phins360_FL 6 points ago +9 / -3

what difference does population mame? this virus is the flu. nothing more, so population should not enter the argument for arguments sake.

15
kekNation 15 points ago +16 / -1

We know that now but we did not know it in March. And it is very bad for elderly, and Florida has a ton of elderly.

Many of Florida’s elderly are from NYC and when the outbreak hit NYC they fled to FL so it was hard to tell how many cases were being imported for NYC.

DeSantis had a hell of a lot harder hand to play and he played it very well.

15
AngryDonut [S] 15 points ago +15 / -0

It's a disease spread by human contact. The Miami-Dade metro with 6 million people has a fuckload more human contacts than the Sioux City metro with 200k people. Population density has a lot to do with the decisions that governors had to make for their states.

Plus where did half of the population of NYC flee to back in March? Fucking Florida. Not only is Florida the #3 state by population, but it's the main landing spot from people fleeing the #1 hot spot in the world, NYC.

7
ADAM_SCHITT 7 points ago +7 / -0

It also has a shit load of old people meaning more people at-risk than most other states.

4
KAG4EVRodysseus11 4 points ago +4 / -0

not relevant.

what is accurate, though, is that Ron had essentially a ton of leftists ganging up on him and hamstringing him at every turn (much like Trump in the Fed govt), whereas with a much smaller population people like Noem had less of that pigpiling to deal with

9
AngryDonut [S] 9 points ago +9 / -0

More people pass thru Florida airports in one day that live in SD. Having 30 times the population, tourist mecca/Orlando Disney, four major cities, multiple international airports, the gateway to South America (Miami), four major deep-water ports all of which dock cruise ships, the highest percapita number of elderly, and the #1 landing spot for NYC refugees is very relevant. Desantis has a much more complex problem to solve than Noem, logistically, politically, from a science perspective, from an economic perspective. Doesn't mean I don't like her, I do. But Ron had a much bigger challenge.

3
KAG4EVRodysseus11 3 points ago +3 / -0

I only agree in that he had many more leftist enemies looking to sabotage him at every turn, which they did.

But he didnt HAVE to do the lockdowns (Noem didnt), he COULD have said "FUCK NO" to county/local mask mandates (Kemp did), and he really has no good excuses for that. To me, those were failures.

Population differences dont change any of that.

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

Of course they do. Population density is a primary concern with the spread of any infectious disease.

1
luckyfunk13 1 point ago +1 / -0

Maybe he meant the red squiggle indicating it is misspelled, since the accent aigu isn't squiggly? Or maybe not.

1
MerlynTrump 1 point ago +1 / -0

Should it be considered misspelled because he didn't put the acute accent? Especially given that we don't really use them in English. When I type in English I don't use accents. If I had to type something in a foreign language I'll use the accents (which is why I use Wordperfect when I take a Spanish class, but most other work I do with Word).

2
luckyfunk13 2 points ago +2 / -0

No, not really. It's an accepted spelling in English because English keyboards don't have built in French accents. Either way, 'twas a joke because the accent aigu is an angled straight line and not a squiggle. The enye (tilde over n) is squiggly, but that's not what we're talking about.

17
lifeisahologram 17 points ago +18 / -1

Its great Noem didn’t lock down at all, and I will give her credit for coming out publicly against it. But she wasn’t tested beyond that because everyone else in the state agreed with her. She neither requested for or banned masks, but it was still always up to the localities if they were implemented, and they simply didn’t.

However she isn’t the only governor to not have a statewide mask mandate, I believe 5 total governors didn’t implement statewide lockdown/masks. Its just those governors had to fight democrat mayors/councils/etc who did implement them locally. And they didn’t come out as explicitly as she did against them.

However, DeSantis is now the only governor to make an ANTI mask law. Still leaving it up to localities if they want, but makes its truly, and fully 100% optional. No fines. No business licenses can be revoked. Nothing.

20
The_Litehaus_Abides 20 points ago +20 / -0

Didn't the Georgia governor make an anti-mask law first? Seems I remember he did.

edit: Yeah, Kemp gave an order in July that local municipalities can't mandate masks.

11
lifeisahologram 11 points ago +11 / -0

That’s awesome! I didn’t realize. This is a good sign then, hopefully some more governors stand up.

Edit: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/georgia-governor-relents-allows-some-local-mask-requirements-2020-08-16

Nvm he relented. We’d have to have some Georgia pedes chime in though to see how many of the counties decided to implement them, and assess fines (which he allowed up to $50)

7
The_Litehaus_Abides 7 points ago +7 / -0

Oh shit! I never heard about that. Too bad.

6
lifeisahologram 6 points ago +6 / -0

Fortunately I can’t seem to find any counties that have decided to implement fines. Which as long as they don’t, makes any “mandates” toothless, just like Florida. But it’s still annoying he would allow up to $50 fines.

5
EnforcerDesu 5 points ago +5 / -0

3
jubyeonin 3 points ago +3 / -0

The "re-opening" plans were to go in phases and eventually lift them. Kemp was going faster than Trump wanted and the restrictions are still in place from what I can see. Trump speaking against Kemp was a horrible decision. It slowed down everyone. DeSantis backtracked because of it too.

4
J3N93W 4 points ago +4 / -0

Honestly I get the sense that part of it isn't just politics but also culture. I think that people in Southern and Rocky Mountain states are more willing to take risks and generally braver than people in the Northeast. Maybe in part because Southern and Rocky Mountain people are more likely to be Christian, while people in Northeast may think Salvation is really just free healthcare and getting their kid into a "good" college.

The major cities such as Atlanta and Savannah put in face diaper mandates anyway. Kemp sued them, but they ended up settling and the cities still have the mandates

9
HeIsVigo 9 points ago +9 / -0

Oh that sucks but I'll blame the mayors for that. Here in Louisiana we're phase 3 with mask mandates but it's selectively enforced and 10 minutes from my home the neighboring parish is not enforcing it. So our shopping and social activities went there.

6
HuggableBear 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yeah, it's one of those things where Kemp is stuck between reality and his principles. He doesn't want mask mandates. He also believes that local governance is the best kind and that if cities want masks they should be able to do that, but you get into jurisdictional battles and they met in the middle and basically agreed that the mandates could stand but they couldn't really enforce them with any teeth.

I call it a win.

Screw Cruz. When backed in a corner by the MSM, he caves. In March of 2018, Cruz was babbling on about how Trump's tariffs were "concerning". He's never one to tell the MSM to be quiet, he'll always try to see both sides of an argument, and play middle-man when he feels it's best for his self image.

If Trump needed Cruz, Cruz wouldn't be there for him, I guarantee it. He only praises Trump when he feels it's politically convenient.

The day Texas picks someone further right in the primaries, the better. Someone with a spine, please. Keep Cruz out of the WH, keep Cruz out of SCOTUS. If it's between him and a Dem, pick Cruz. If it's between him or DeSantis for the WH, pick DeSantis!!!

Love Big Dick DeSantis, but Noem and Holcomb were way ahead of him here. Still ballsy for the third largest state though!

12
mbarnar 12 points ago +13 / -1

Holcomb as in Eric Holcomb?! Indiana's governor (Eric Holcomb) has been one of the biggest tyrants. He was threatening jail time for not wearing a mask until our AG publicly bitch slapped him.

Also called the anti-mask protestors a petri dish and publicly "scolded them" (while not saying a word about BLM marches.

If Holcomb is in reference to Eric Holcomb you couldn't be more incorrect friend. So many Republicans are bailing on him in favor of the based Libertarian candidate that he's literally campaigning to get biden voters to vote for him. He's a massive RINO

4
RunningBuffalo 4 points ago +4 / -0

Correct. I am one of those Rainwater voters. Holcomb is the type that wants to get credit for leading while being absolutely unwilling to stick his neck out.

3
mbarnar 3 points ago +3 / -0

Hell yeah I'm voting rainwater too. It was nice to see Holcomb's polling drop from 60% to 35% over the course of 6 months

2
MainstreamDeviant 2 points ago +2 / -0

Holcomb is such a faggot. He also established some incredibly gay police diversity position. RAINWATER BABY.

3
Chesteraarthur2 3 points ago +3 / -0

This is exactly why I come here! Thank you, sir.

All I knew about Indiana was that they ended all crowd restrictions, but was not aware of the mask Nazism. This "pandemic" is at least exposing the RINOs we need to vote out.

2
mbarnar 2 points ago +2 / -0

What they probably left out was our restrictions were supposed to end July 4th but then Holcomb put us in a "Stage 4.5" until this week. And he still has a mask Mandate

Truth is Holcomb's balls deep in China shit. Went over there last year and is a self proclaimed "friend of China"

10

Desantis can eat a dick, he cucked out just like Dewine and 99% of the rest and want into a Panic Lockdown. South Dakota's Kristi Noem did it right NEVER LOCK DOWN. As a Future Ohio Governor I would have taken the same method as Noem, Fuck the Unelected Health douchebags in this State like Amy Acton, any Health Director position should always be an elected office that includes Automatic Disqualifications and Prison Time for Falsifying Information, something Amy Acton did along with become Defacto Governor of Ohio for 2 Months between March & May of this year and costing my State over 5 Billion to our Economy, 30% of all Small Businesses forever and and Murder of Hundreds if not Thousands of Unborn Children at Planned Parenthoods by calling them "Essential Businesses" and allowing them to remain open to Kill Kids in the Womb. If that's not someone should should be given a State Death Penalty for Mass Murder I don't know who should.

5

4
Pilotaaron1 4 points ago +4 / -0

I cant stand Dewine and Acton so much. What is up with Ohio republican Governors? First that giant backstabbing piece of shit Kasich and now this dickwad. When this first went down, I tried to explain to my family that it's all shit and they have no right to do this. My family all bought into their shit and even now my mom uses a mask everywhere and uses hand sanitizer on everything.

4

Ya I barely made it more than 10 minutes. I tried watching the movie after I attempted Spade's recent audiobook, which I only lasted 4 chapters.

I love Spade but it's sad how badly he's cucked himself in LA. Literally all his current material is about trying to date young LA women and being embarrassed constantly. It might work if he was 25-30, but he's in his 50s and still hanging out with scene-whores. It comes off as sad for everyone and not very funny.

Ron DeSantis isn't the only sensible governor. He's the one you're hearing about.

And he squeaked by to win, too--49.59 to Gillum's 49.19, thanks to plenty of idiots in FL who didn't even bother to vote, and who are now probably grateful for other voters.

FL dodged a blue bullet, for sure, so residents there shouldn't get so cocky.

Florida has been lax on plandemic preventions for weeks now, if not months. Just visited the pan handle and then south Miami, no one gives a shit. Businesses lax on masks and so are people. The leftists being brain washed by the MSM think this is some drastic decision by DeSantis to end the mandates. It’s not. Leftists always think the bubble they live in reflects reality everywhere. 5 cOvId deaths in the entire state yesterday. That’s real leadership.

4
KAG4EVRodysseus11 4 points ago +5 / -1

Fuck that.

I love Ron, dont get me wrong, but he was bamboozled on a number of levels with this whole scam.

he DID order lockdowns "safer at home" which has led to thousands of businesses going under, he failed to do what Kemp from GA did and prohibit county/local mask mandates in a fucking TRAVEL AND TOURISM DRIVEN ECONOMY, which of course predictably crushed travel and tourism and then the state economy itself by the of course predictably leftist counties and cities, he was end run by his own food/beverage dept who shut down bars for months, and finally last but not least he was bullied by a ton of school districts into delaying opening and then implementing retarded policies when they did finally open, rather than just issuing a state mandate to tell them to suck it and get back to work, period.

So he did SOME good things but I sure as shit dont give him an A. A "B" at best.

5
NobodyLikesSplatter 5 points ago +5 / -0

I lost my fucking job because of the lockdowns. A lot of people lost their businesses. It’s unbelievable and so messed up and shameful that the 15 days to flatten the curve turned into destroying people’s lives.

They’re still enforcing the mask mandate in Tampa in a big way. You hardly ever see people not wearing masks. I quit wearing mine because the mandate now says you don’t have to wear one if you have a medical issue but they absolutely cannot ask you or demand any documentation as to why you are exempt. They can’t fine you for noncompliance.

Idk everything angers me so much now about covid and the response. They’ve really fucked Florida.

3
KAG4EVRodysseus11 3 points ago +3 / -0

I agree totally, thats why I said Ron is no hero, he was conned into this shit too - actually in many ways so was Trump. He listened to his retarded Fauci/Birx eggheads who of COURSE screamed about lockdowns, WHAT DO THEY CARE THEY NEVER MISS A PAYCHECK!

We can stay locked down for years for all they give a shit.

And I wish DJT had said to them we cant lock down, period. Find a better solution - and BTW we know now that lockdowns dont do anything beneficial anyway, if they do anything its merely PROLONG infections....which they did acknowledge "flatten the curve!", but we were never even close in any way to hospital system overruns, as most cases were OUTPATIENT anyway! People were sent home!

2
CuomoisaMassMurderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

Very few places neared hospital capacity. Where they did, it was bad. Denying HCQ = sending people home. Even King George never engaged in that much tyranny! 30+ Governors should be physically removed from Office under citizens arrest for mass murder.

I have two lefty friends on Facebook that live in Florida. At least once a day they will Reeeeee Over there soon to be death because of coronavirus because of DeSantis and Trump. They fully admit that they’ve been quite literally hiding in their house for months now Except for trips to the grocery store or other essential needs, not even taking walks around the neighborhood during busy times.

In one post they admitted that they wouldn’t even go onto their lanai if they heard their neighbors outside and there’s and would stay inside. However, the state they’re ready for corona to be over, once Joe Biden wins, so they can get back to normal. However, if you are too afraid to sit out on your own lanai, a.k.a. screened in patio, for months now even win the TV Tells you it is safe, I don’t think these people will ever mentally be the same.

The VP of a 2 term president usually runs for president after. I had my suspicions of Pence early on but he has proven to be America First and has shaken lose his Neo-Con label. If he picks Desantis as his running mate in 2024 i will ha e high hopes for his presidency. That will also position Desantis for President in 2032, and if Don Jr. can pull off a Senate run he will be a great running mate for Desantis, then we can have Trump 2.0 in 2040.
